+ 1 Hell week gets the best of Boston

ad

So...i made it to hell week, but it got me. I started dehydrating myself thursday and upped my aromasin dosage in hopes of becoming as dry as possible. Also cut carbs to 50g post workout only. Right off the bat i noticed some changes. Waking up with cotton mouth like i had just smoked a big ole J lol. And low energy levels along with some immediate loss of size and strength. No big deal i said, this is whats supposed to happen...so today was back day for me. I start with some lat pulldowns. I feel weak as hell and flat, just not able to dig like i normally can. I fight through it and bust out 4 sets followed by a huge drop set. Now its time for deadlifts. I warm with 225 for 15. Rest for a few. Then i pull 315 for 12. It felt so heavy and i felt a major difference in my knees and a very random pain in my upper back, right in the neck area close to my traps. I tell myselt to dig and keep going. I pull 405 for 5 and drop to 315 for a final burnout set. I struggle and get to 8...tell my self god damnit you are getting 10. I didnt though. The 9th rep hurt me. And i mean enough to end my ebc and probably training all together for a month or 2 id say. I felt something "rub"?? I dont know how else to describe it...i heard it and felt it and suddenly the weight slammed to the ground and pulled me down on top of it. I had straps on. I went to stand up and literally went into tears. Its the worst and most painful injury i've ever faced. I cant stand all the way up today and the pain is a constant sharp sensation coupled with a throb in my lower back. Its not a pulled muscle, its more than that. I hope its not a disc. I think i just went to hard and lost my focus. Im guessing my form went to shit and caused the injury. So my ebc is done. Im going to spend the next few days trying to cut water and carb up. Id say my finale pics will be up by wednesday. Im still very satisfied with my body at this point and im hoping i'll be up there with the front runners come decision time. This fucking ebc has been so hard lol. My hats off to everyone that is involved as i know how hard you have all worked. We all kept each other going and motivated. Without all you guys, i wouldnt have been able to do this. We are some crazy mofos lol. I have driven my fiance insane lol. Shes about ready to kill me so im kinda glad im done and she just couldnt be more happy lol. You guys are awesome, i have so much respect for you all. Good luck to everybody and wish me luck with my back.

Damn Boston, Sorry to here this Brother! These contests are supposed to help, not hurt you. Hope it's nothing serious! Let us know. Good Luck!

Glad to hear it! I was gonna say about form but figured you already knew. It took me a while, but the weight is not worth the pain and loss of training. Nurse it for a while but keep it moving so it doesn't tighten up on you.

One guy I know who was a week out from competition actually did the same thing it sounds. Was deadlifting and all went to hell. He actually ended up having to have surgery and couldn't lift for 6 months so I hope to hell this isn't the case with you. Good job so far brother and hopefully your photos still come out stellar!

Win or not you're a champ! I hope you just had dry joint issues and nothing major. Low carbs and crashed estro is rugged times. I had to switch to reps vs weight today :( . Im glad you jumped in and made great progress!! See ya at the finish.
