Importance of carbs for an ectomorph

ad

So I'm trying to figure out my diet for on cycle. I don't eat red meat or pork so that is already done. Cheese has been cut to a minimum (my favorite thing on earth) no sweets either. But carbs are my shit! Now what sort of diet plan should I have? I try to stick to healthy carbs but how important is that in my diet? I obviously refrain from the sugars but was wondering about anyone's specific diet plan that worked for them that is also an ectomorph? What type of cal/carb/fat/protein do you use for on cycle diet? I'm not trying to go for all mass but keep definition and gain. Oh it's my first cycle so test only if that comes up. 26 6"0' 195 are my stats.

I "was" an ectomorph. At 16%BF and 175lbs, no 6 pack, 12 inch arms. My diet was similar to yours, low fat, low carbs, lean meats like chicken and fish.

Then I decided why eat so picky? I'm trying to put mass on. Nothing bulks you up better than high carbs. So I started slamming 600g carbs per day, 150g fats, 300protein. 9 months later I am 220lbs and just under 12% with 18's and a 6pack!!

I also have great definition, so my point is don't hold back on eating!!!! If you gain a little fat you will burn it off. But if you are not eating high carbs then your body will use protein as energy which leaves less for muscle building.

Damn that's amazing gains! Did you change your lifting style? Or go on cycle or is that all diet!?

j223's picture

Not many changes to lifting. I got the diet nailed down, and also went on cycle. But still, the main thing I came to realize is lifting routine, and steroid doses don't really matter that much. It's all about how your diet is. Once I realized that I started making fantastic gains on and off cycle.

Remember that when you have more muscle your body burns more calories since the muscle needs fuel to function. SO if your diet has high carbs and fats, as long as you are building muscle you will also see some fatloss.

Ahh good point sir! What do you eat to get your fats??

j223's picture

avocadoes, peanut butter, almonds, walnuts (all nuts in general), olive oil, flax seed, fish. Stuff like that.

A good peanut butter and jelly sandwich 2x a day is always good lol. I try to eat fish daily, but I always eat almonds every day.

I take a tablespoon of almond butter before bed, takes a while to break down and keeps the metabolism running during sleep.

What about your sodium intake where do you try and stay with that?

I'm also an ectomorph - generally, i find staying lean isn't really a chore, since i can eat almost whatever i like and maintain a lean frame. I've got a couple of meal ideas for you, which i personally use;

-Oats, Jam (If you're in the US - Jelly) and 2 scoops protein.
-Sweet potato, 1/2 cup broccoli, chicken

...and take a look at my homie GS9902's 'Kitchen sink wake up shake'

Use this shake an hour or two PWO and then u eat a good balance meal post workout with chicken breast, whole wheat pasta and a big handful of raw almonds

GS9902's "kitchen sink wake up shake" = 1184 calories
2 scoops whey
1 egg
1 cup oats
1 cup plain greek yogurt
2 tbsp flax seed cold milled
1banana
1 tbsp of natural peanut butter or almond butter
1 cup mixed berries

U put protein in the oats? Jelly has too much sugar though haha! Just cause I can eat whatever I want doesn't mean I should lol. Sweet potatoes are so good good Option I haven't thought of! Thanks p

Get sugar-free jelly if ur worried about it... Ectomorphs need calories tho bro!!! U don't increase ur calories ur not going to get bigger....

Cook up the oats, stir in some jelly and protein and your good to go!
