Ok so we know 3500cals is 1 pound of fat. Say i lose 1-2lbs of fat a week, so 3500-7000cals. Then for a chet meal i have a 2000calorie pizza does that mean i almost gained a pound back or it doesnt work likethat...

i agree, i lost 140 Lbs naturally, just eating 2500 cals a day roughly, then started focusing on a super high protein, matching my body weight to grams, and almost no carbs whatsoever and got down to 10.5% BF =) strict diet and excersize is the only way =.=

It means that if you have a 3500 cal deficit for the week you'll lose a pound (hopefully all fat). Say you have a 3000 cal per day diet, that would be 21000 cal per wk...

If you eat over 21K per week you gain.
If you eat 21K per week you maintain.
If you eat 17.5K per week (21K - 3.5K) you'll lose a pound.
If you eat over 17.5K but under 21K you'll lose a % of a pound.

Keeping your (quality) carbs and protein up by minimally reducing cals increases your chance of preserving muscle while shedding fat.

Eating a 2000 cal pizza can be offset by cutting back 280 (additional) cals per day over the course of the week (about 1 baked potato per day).

weight loss and weight gain does not work that way. enzymes are responsible for catalyzing the reactions in which your body uses the food you eat for energy. therefore it doesnt make sense to look at it like if i eat 500kcal and burn off 500kcal then i stay the same weight. compare someone who has a fast metabolism, who eats the same foods and does the same exercise, to someone who has a slow metabolism.... fast metabolism dude will prolly lose weight doing the same activities and eating the same way as the slow metabolism dude.

Ah, if it were only that simple, I'd be 260lbs of solid muscle right now! LOL ;-P Unfortunately its not just volume of calories! Activity level, metabolism, macronutrients (protein, carbs, fats, and the different types of each, whey, cassein, simple carbs/sugars, saturated, non saturated fats) time of day eaten, current levels of those nutrients in the body now, AAS, HGH........ it goes on and on and on! These all have an affect on the balancing of fat, lean tissue, whether fat, carbs, or proteins is used as energy. I eat pizza quite a bit, but try to balance things out eating many smaller meals a day making decent choices whenever possible.

fuck eating a pizza, its not worth it. i was dieting earlier this summer and every weekend id eat like shit, and spend the entire next week undoing the damage i did on the weekend. try eating clean week-round, you will be so money and feel better too

Great Point! People do awesome during the week then on the weekend have a couple beers some fatty bar food and it takes them until Wednesday to burn off what they did in one night on the weekend. Sticking to a diet 24/7 is the best way to get to your goals.+1
