Opinions on AAS use while on prescription medication

ad

Hello.

I was curious if anyone had any knowledge or experience with AAS use while taking prescription medications; specifically Adderall or Vyvanse. These are ADD medications. I hope I'm posting this in the right section. I look forward to everyone's' input!

I have experience with both of these drugs while being on cycle. It's crucial to have you diet on point while taking these because it's so easy to miss a meal and constant hydration is a must. BE SURE TO CONSTANTLY MONITOR YOUR BP WHILE TAKING THESE DRUGS!

AAS + amphetamines = High BP nightmare. My advise is to limit use, especially on cycle

I'm Co-Morbid Bi-Polar and ADHD. I'm also a therapist and can confirm that TRT/AAS have helped me in all areas. I feel more balanced, fewer depressive episodes which in return makes it so I have fewer manic episodes....More energy is also huge as these meds usually take a lot out of you.

I would give you +1 for that post if I could. I'm a registered CADC (alcohol and drug counselor) with ADHD/ADD, and I'm a recovering heroin addict with 2 years clean. I'm prescribed Adderall 30mgs instant release daily and AAS helps me with my ADD/ADHD and my overall recovery from heroin. Just make sure that you eat enough when you're on adderall and AAS together as adderall can cause you to go catabolic if you don't eat enough. Remember it is a stimulant so it will speed up your metabolism.

Just to clarify for everyone; I'm not prescribed nor addicted to these medications. I might take one every one or two months if I get behind on schoolwork. I understand what they are and what they do to your body. I don't even enjoy taking them, but it's the punishment for not managing my time well. I honestly don't see how people take them every day, I would be a total wreck if I was on them all the time haha.

I should have worded my post differently, as in "Would taking one dose of Adderall/Vyvanse affect me negatively on a cycle?"

I don't drink alcohol or do drugs (including weed.) I get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep every day. I cook all my own meals and don't go out to eat (maybe once every month or month and a half). I lift 4-5x a week without fail.

I appreciate the concerned replies from everyone, but I think I worded my original post poorly.

I highly doubt you're taking kiddie coke and actually getting to the gym. And if so, just talking everyone'e ear off. I firmly believe the large majority of kids prescribed these types of meds don't need them. We take certain drugs, and properly, to benefit our bodies. And chances are, you are taking drugs that are negatively affecting your brain and body.

Ween yourself off the doctor's dope. Get clean, eat clean, lift hard for a few years. Your body is naturally making an excess of testosterone for a few more years, don't mess with that.

To answer your actual question, "does anyone have any knowledge or experience with aas use while taking these meds"... no. Because, noone does. Because it doesn't make any sense.

Dextroamphetamine makes hunger a thing of the past, and hunger isn't something you want to compromise when you're on a cycle. It also disrupts sleep, which is also something you don't need. Lastly, the crash, and/or the withdraw is out of this world, it makes you violent, unmotivated and impulsive, which is consistent with the mood issues you MAY experience on steroids. It's not a good idea.

horrible trust me i am personally prescribed them and i think being on AAS is pointless while taking add meds. you need to have a great diet to gain weight right? not possible when your never hungry..

Ok....so you are probably sitting there getting pissed off at everyone telling you that you are too young to start aas. They are right because of the multitude of physical reasons listed below. There is also the important mental factors to consider as well. Excuse me for assuming, but I bet at this point in your life you like to drink at least very weekend which probably results in unproductive hungover hours in the gym, you don't eat on a regular schedule, and you aren't eating the right things. I assume these things because that was me at 20 and the overwhelming majority of everyone else I know...it's not meant as a slight against your character. furthermore, your question demonstrates your need for more knowledge in the subject. With some proper research you would know why it would be good to combine the two substances. I presume you want roids to get big and not because you are in an cutting phase with extremely reduced caloric intake. With that being said, there would be no reason why you combine long term use of an appetite surpressing substance like adderall (amphetamine) with an anabolic substance like testosterone. There effects are direct antagonists of each other and cancel each other out. You take tst to build muscle but in order to build muscle you must fuel the process with plenty of nutrient rich food; you take adderall daily so this inhibits your ability to take in surplus calories necessary to build muscle which will cause the effects of testosterone to be nil. Anyways, I hope you take everyone's advice as being helpful and not as an attack on you your character. Everyone here cares for your health.

First off, do you really need ADHD or ADD meds? VERY doubtful, not many actually do. And the biggest clue that makes me think you just take them for fun, you are addicted to them, or you take wayyy more than prescribed is that you said specifically adderall and vyvanse....thats 2 different medications on 2 different levels even though for the same thing. No doctor will place you on both, or one one month and the other the next so this means you are probably doctor shopping or buying them off the street when you run out.
Now you may think I am being mean or that I am shit talking for no reason, but this has everything to do with the question. If you are actually doing what I just said, then AAS is a terrible idea. You are not in the correct mindset for lifting, you would be taking gear for all the wrong reasons, and you will never attain the goals you think you will.
If you are truly taking these meds for legit reasons at a reasonable dose (not 3,5,10,90 a day), you are in great shape already, you work out at least 5 days a week, you eat properly with a half way decent diet, you rest enough (sleep enough), you have your priorities straight, and you have been working out for at least a few years, then it may not be the worst idea you have ever had. If you have all of these things down solid and have all your ducks in a row, adderall (or vivanse) will not necessarily be terrible for you but they will hinder your weight gain, expel your appetite, and be another negative impact on your liver. My suggestion is work out hard, eat ALOT and hard, sleep ALOT and good, and don't take shit that is bad for your body if you truly do not need it.
On the other hand, I do have to say this....IF and I mean ABSOLUTELY ONLY IF you are seriously taking these meds because you are all over the fuckin place without them and have NEVER been able to concentrate since you were like 5 years old and are not addicted to them and fien for them, then I want you to know I am not bashing.

Dr's will often prescribe both drugs at the same time (in the US). Even though vyvanse is marketed as being a 12-hour drug, it often falls short of that so they'll prescribe adderal or Ritalin as a boost. Even though they are two different drugs they both contain dexamphetamine. The adderal contains three additional amphetamine salts but the main difference in the two is that vyvanse has an amino acid (l-lysine) attached to the dexamphetamine so it makes it almost impossible to abuse the drug. It has to go through digestion to be absorbed

your too young for AAS, especially with those stats.
6'0 and 190 at 17% bodyfat, you clearly haven't put true dedication into diet or training to be considering the next step already and turning to AAS. AAS isn't a quick fix, should be used because you've pushed it to the max already naturally

At your age you need a clean diet hard training and plenty of sleep to grow. Your body is still growing naturally, you you may find in time that you don't even need them. Slow and steady wins the race in this sport. Take it from me steroids at your age will do only 1 thing, screw up your inside for the rest of your life.

nerdmuscles's picture

With a health condition like that, and with your stats I dont think aas should be in your future.

X2. At your age (20), we shouldn't even be discussing using AAS. You've still got plenty of Test naturally, no need to start using gear, you'd be on TRT by the time you're my age.

Train hard, eat like a horse. Only things you need at the moment.
