Blood in syringe after aspirating
Pinning into glutes today i ...encountered blood when aspirating.
At first i was unsure what to do.
I pulled out the pin and retried 2 cm away from the first.
problem...when aspirating on the second insertion it was hard to tell whether i hit another vein because blood already in syringe.
I know the chances of hitting another one would be remote.
Confused at the new situation I just plunged the needle, although sucessful i found that while plunging i had pulled the needle out about 2 cm.
Heres my questions.
1) If i did plunge the syringe when in a vein what would happen?
2) Is it possible for the needle to go right through a vein making aspiration clear then as the plunger is pushed the needle accidently pulled out a few cm lining up with the vein?

cdaddy7The site might be real sore tomorrow with light bruising and swelling. As far as getting it into the vein, if you would have it would have whelped up at the injection site with a knot or egg shape. More likely you burst a larger capillary and nothing to it. Take a 800mg dose of Ibuprofen before bed and it should help with the inflammation and soreness
Ive had it happen a few times..must have moved a tiny bit after i aspirated..anyway it will give you an un controllable cough for a few mins and possibly spit a little blood..oh and ive also gotten a little light headed...kind of scary at first especially if you dont know what to expect..
Yes...you can nick or go thru veins. Yes you were sucking from vein. Next time carefully push blood into sink so next aspiration is accurate. If you inject into vein it can cause a spasmotic cough. You should br ok. Glad you're at least aspirating!
