+ 1 What can you bench?

ad

Okay, as there is nothing in this section yet I thought I would start the ball rolling with the old cliche "What can you Bench" Not sure if it's in the right section but it's strength related so I figure it can go in here.

Please put what you can bench completely unassisted either for reps or 1 rep Max.

Feel free to put your body weight as I think someone who is 11 stone benching 100K is more impressive than a 16 stone lump benching 130K.

My best to date is 140k (approx 310lb) for 8 reps.

Best raw bench is 430, and best geared bench is 550.

At 32 years old I can bench 315lbs for 3 reps at a 187bw (not on anything by the way). My best was 6 years ago at 26 I could rep 315 for 8 and 380 for 1 (but I was 206bw). Most I ever did at a meet was 355 with a pause.

Braveone's picture

I'm 53yrs old and my best bench was 365 raw at 182bw. And my best bench in a meet (paused) was 340 at 177bw
Btw these were both in the last 3 months.

id rather brag about the true test of strength deads (60kg (132lbs) each side and bar 25kg (55lbs) today for 8 reps, good form with slow straight back return and drop till bar passed knees, before the 4 weeks in 40kg (88lbs) each side was a challenge)...but for bench im not doing bad i can slap on 50kg (110lbs) each side i dont usually count bar but for those interested 25kg (55lbs) for 2 rep form slip a lil then i went straight into 45 (99lbs) each side for 3 reps, was curious if my strength was going up, i hope by week 14 to be 140kg (308lbs) bench for 1 rep maybe but ;) im at 86kg (189.2lbs) weight.

Deadlift true test of strength I disagree 100% Sure deadlift and sqauts are probaly 2 of the most overlooked exercises in the gym but if this right your deadlifting & benching are almost equal in weight.

well as a former state record holder here in the south and a new member here i can say my lift at 525 lbs in the 198 class was reset just three years later @ 545..now at the same wt and at 46 years old i think that 500 might be a goal , who knows ?

Okay let's stick to lb's as I think everyone understands pounds....Wow, I'm impressed bchrisen, a true giant and a strength monster. that is truly amazing and you'd be the strongest in my gym...you must cut an impressive figure lol.

I can't really count this 'cos they were smith machine squats but I'll mention it anyway 457lb for 12 reps going parallel. Deadlift 396lb for 6....I'm 5' 6" 200lbs btw.
