How to uncap a needle

That is the second time this week where I have nicked one of my fingers uncapping the needle. It requires quite a bit of effort on my part to turn the cap loose. Not only does it dull the needle, but I've injected twice now with blood from my finger on the tip of the needle. How can you uncap a needle safely without cutting yourself?

I use BD Microlance 3,never had a problem in fact I've never cut myself on them.Normally I use 23g 1.5" for the glute,23g 1" for the delt.But at the minute I'm using my puller's to jab...21g 1 1/2",quite bad tbh
