+ 1 Liver detox, digestive assistance and cleanse, hydration and fat burning
I guy I work with told me a couple of weeks ago that he read lemon water is incredibly good for you, possibly even preventing cancer. I haven't found any proof of cancer prevention, but it is most definitely proven to cleanse the liver, aid in weight loss and assist hydration. This is all key for us, especially if on a cutter. The cancer theory is based on pH levels in the body, after reading about it I think it makes sense, and I do have cancer in the family...
So after doing a bit more reading on the subject, I came up with this;
I bought a water jug for the refrigerator, 4 or 5 quarts, not sure exactly how big. Also got a big bag of lemons and a bag of limes. Wash off a lemon and lime. Cut them both into quarters over the jug, squeeze them and drop right into it. Then I take a coffee mug full of near boiling water and dump it in. Let sit for about a half hour to steep. Next, fill with cold water and drink throughout the day. I like to fill a glass before bed and have it on the nightstand. The first thing I do in the morning is chug that down. I haven't read anything about limes in the water, I just think it makes it taste better. (I suppose you could use carbonated water and a sweetener too..... maybe give it a name, like Spryt or See Era Mist)
Here''s an excerpt from one of the sites I came across;

"Warm lemon water in the morning helps kickstart the digestion process for the day. According to Ayurvedic philosophy, choices that you make regarding your daily routine either build up resistance to disease or tear it down. Ayurveda invites us to get a jump-start on the day by focusing on morning rituals that work to align the body with nature’s rhythms, balance the doshas and foster self-esteem alongside self-discipline.
There are many health benefits of lemons that have been known for centuries. The two biggest are lemons’ strong antibacterial, antiviral, and immune-boosting powers and their use as a weight loss aid because lemon juice is a digestive aid and liver cleanser. Lemons contain many substances–notably citric acid, calcium, magnesium, vitamin C, bioflavonoids, pectin, and limonene–that promote immunity and fight infection"
A couple other references (there's actually a ton more, just do an internet search);

I suffered from heartburn whenever I ate meat and looked it up on the net for a solution. Started taking a bit of lemon juice almost neat appr 5mins before my meals and by the end of the week the problem was so much better I was amazed. Not only did my heartburn disappear, I had no more gas after eating. I looked it up some more and found that citric acid, vinegar, and a bunch of other herbs will stimulate or "prime" the stomach to release more HCL and Pepsin to deal with the food. The HCL released is the bodys first barrier to unwanted bacteria, and the primary substance extracting minerals and protein from your food. I now stay away from antacids and milk (alkalines) while eating protein. I think you are on to something there brother!
Perhaps we have someone on the forum more knowledgeable who can shed more light on this?
I suppose you could mix these two, making a lemon-lime green tea.
