My perspective on Cortisol and progestins.

Cortisol is a stress hormone released from the adrenal medulla under stress. The best way to calm it down is to consume sugar. Cortisol can be converted to pregnenolone, a precursor to all endogenous steriodial hormones. Cortisol work in synergy with adrenaline (epinephrine) to cause instant survival like memories that last for a few seconds at a time. Cortisol can breakdown your hippocampus, an important brain nucleus that contributes to memory functions. Consuming sugar is an easy way to help control cortisol. Though pregnenolone is a feminine hormone and a precursor to progesterone, it is very beneficial to the mind in comparison to cortisol.

When consuming AAS it is evident to the majority of us it shuts down your HPTA and production of androgens. The HPTA still functions to secrete hormones from your adrenal medulla. Since one will not produce androgens, the building blocks of androgens which progestins, stay and secrete as progestins.
