+ 1 Kale!

ad

Kale is a super vegetable you should be eating. There are so many positives that come along with it when it is in your diet. Kale is virtually fat free and has an abundance of: Fiber, Iron, Vitamins A, C, and K, Antioxidants, and Calcium. All this from a vegetable.

How should you eat the kale?

I have tried many different ways. Growing up in a Portuguese family the dish "Caldo Verde" was served quite often and it seems us Portuguese eat kale with a lot of different dishes! If you are interested in Caldo Verde it is a really good soup that is relatively easy to make but I eat the same thing on a daily basis and just don't want to add that as a source of calories. I am not the best cook but here is my relatively easy way to add kale as a side dish to any meal.

Steam it!

What I do is first remove all the large stems from the kale.

Prepare your steamer with the necessary amount of water and add a little bit of olive oil to the water for better flavor.

Steam the kale for 7-11 Minutes.

And your kale is ready to go. Now this may not be the tastiest recipe in the world but it is simple. I pre prepare all my meals every 4 days and eat steamed kale on a daily basis. This method is great for those people who also prepare their meals in advance!

Hope this helped somebody.
Cheers, Bros

Cut fine and quickly stir fry with garlic and chilli. Theres a few varieties of kale, I like the red russian best. Also as mentioned, it makes a great juice!!!!

Green smoothie
--1cup chopped kale
--1cup chopped spinach
--1 peeled kiwi
--1 cup chopped pineapple
--1/2 banana
--2 scoops vanilla protein powder
--6 ice cubes
--1/2 to 1 cup skim milk to bring to desired thickness.
The pinapple is the predominant flavor...but you can increse the banana and reduce pineapple to go with predominant banana flavor.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the info. I've been blending it into smoothies with a few other things and running through a juicer as well. Also like to lightly salt or season with Mrs Dash and bake it in the oven. It gives me something to munch on during movie or game time while everyone else eats chips and dip or popcorn.
I'll definitely give this a try.

Yeah man, I've also tried a dry salad using kale. Disgusting haha. Steaming it makes the kale much easier to chew and tastes decent.
