+ 8 Yep, this cycle has kicked in hard...

ad

I have only gained 6 pounds on the scale in 8+ weeks.
But I look a lot different.
Thanks, Swole!

Right shoulder's getting A little better.
I'm doing some rehab stuff: wall walking (using fingers to walk it up a wall in front of me), raising it up and down gently for reps after getting it started with other arm, rotating it thru ROM, etc. I'm glad its been a few days because it's time to apply heat. I've is only for 24 hours after injury that has no discernable swelling after that time. I hate ice.

Thanks so much, bro.
It took a lot of work but when I put those five plates on either side and added that little 2 1/2lb cookie to get an even 500, then pulled it and stood erect with it for 10 seconds or so, I put it down easy and jumped up and down like a kid.
Here's what my nature did next: Right then, in the back of my mind a voice said, "600, here I come."
No wonder I get injured, huh?
Thanks again bro. A little recognition for that feels good.

Looking astounding my brother! Exceedingly strong and mature muscular development! Distinctively separated and impressively refined! Nice contrast between your flaring lats and trim waistline! Beautiful Christmas tree which is always impressive!
Outstanding and respectful work! +2 for a dynamic and picturesque build!
Personally speaking brother and you know I'm no youngster, I can't lift what I did years ago, and I've come to terms with that! Even on cycle my focus remains in sculpting shaping and refining! I love this sport and do not want to risk a major injury at this stage where it might jeopardize my ability to lift in the future!

Theophany,
Thanks so much for your
complimentary, supportive remarks, man.

And yes, those two polar incentives, positive and negative--the happy image of training and remaining fit well into the future; the scary specter of "career" ending injuries--are really all I

should

need to keep in mind to ease up on the throttle.

The funny thing about is this: those who are of the type to
Do what we do, hard enough, long enough and consistently enough to build the kind of strength and physique I've built, and even extreme enough to use gear, are not the type to be easily able to chill out and lighten up. I've always been passionate and intense about anything I am into. It's not the first time that's gotten me into trouble of one kind or the other.
Again, thanks for your wise words and your concise tactful way of delivering them!

I absolutely love your passion PoundforPound! I agree its not easy putting a governor on your potential! Much respect for the commonality we share, our passion hasn't diminshed with years of sacrifice and commitment!
Glad we became friends! :))

I'm going to mention something here that I'm struggling with.
It's not the right place for it because it'll get more feedback as a forum post in the right section.
But, you guys that have responded to this post are cool, experienced, and I seem to be building "friendships" with some of you, so I'm going to mention it here. Then I'll put it on a forum so that anyone can sling advice at me regardless of their strength training and building experience.
That's a little tough for me to tolerate but I'll practice patience with 'em!
My father always says, "Hire the young while they still know everything!"
To me that doesn't necessarily apply to age as much as experience. There are some guys on here in their late twenties and their thirties from whom I've learned a few important things already, but they're experienced as hell (Tren90210 for instance).

Here it is:

I'm having problems with my little frame.

I was way bigger and stronger long ago.
I came back weighing 140 lbs approx 3 years ago from a nasty run on something not discussed here. Something that makes a person go fast and get torn down. I'm 174 in the photos I posted here.

On inclined barbell bench press, I've again gotten strong enough to use 275 x 6 (1 set), 255 x 3 sets (10, 8, 8 reps), but my shoulder and AC joints are getting so sore from it that today, I can't raise my left arm comfortably and I can't even raise my right arm at all without assistance from my left arm after doing inclined bench press yesterday. And my right shoulder is the one I haven't been having problems with!
Every nitwit in the world says, "Use light weight," without knowing jack shit about my background and experience. They don't understand that light weight will not make me grow bigger. It won't even allow me to maintain my current size and strength.
I have great genetics for strength per my body weight. I've used that to put muscle on a small, hard gainer's frame.

PART 2:

Example: I recently deadlifted 520 at 169 pounds bodyweight and 51 years old. My lower back is looking great as the result of all the training I've done to get to that level.
For me to grow and fulfill any of my genetic potential for a good physique, I have to lift very hard and heavy on compound lifts. Smaller muscles like biceps, have never been super important to me except as they are used for assistance muscles in compound lifts and the obvious fact that we all want to look bigger, better and have balance all over as much as we can. But using biceps as an example, I can do 5 sets of seated inclined DB curls with perfect form (NO movement at all of shoulder joint) with only 30 pound db's x 12 reps, 2 x/week, and they're pretty jacked.
I'm getting worried and bummed out because I've made real progress lately but the problem I've described above is getting bad and it's threatening to halt my progress and even reverse it.
Any ideas?

I may resort to:
Thymosin Beta 500
BPC 157
igf1 LR3

These can be obtained from peptide sites but damn, the money, and more injecting--
I don't like that part.
But that's the game we're.

Have you tried other lifts? For example, I have shoulder issues and I can't do incline barbell at all. I can though do incline dumbell presses, much easier. I also do more heavy fly motion as well with much less pain.
Also, don't paint yourself into a box with "I have to lift very hard and heavy on compound lifts." If you're injured, you are just going to make things worse by doing that. Be creative and try to think outside the box. Maybe you already have, so please don't take offense. I just know that I sometimes get stuck in a certain type of thinking and find when I change things up, I seem to do better and make progress and find ways around my several injuries I deal with on a daily basis.

PoundForPound's picture

No, its all good vhman. Don't think you have to be too careful with me, I'm not offended.

Although I CAN be a bristly old fucker when it comes to newbies parroting shit, no matter the setting! LOL

But yeah, I always have to rotate through different exercises as one causes shoulder and elbow flare-ups, I go to another.
The scary part is that inclined barbell bench has been my refuge for a few years now: When other things start to cause too much pain and loss of ROM, I resort back to it.
Flat bench has been out for decades. That and behind the neck press are what gave me the original injuries that still affect me today.
I'm thinking you're right about db's presses and flys, but they scare me a bit too. That's likely because I haven't gotten comfortable with 'em again for a long time.
Its true that hard n' heavy stimulates the most results for me. It's also true that I need to look outside that box.
Thanks man!

vhman's picture

I deal with a shoulder, low back problem, and a knee issue and I really have to fight my pride when it comes to the gym at times. I know several guys here that can only do dumbell, due to their issues and they got me on them for presses and flys. It's made a big difference for me. It's taken a bit to "get comfortable" with them, but it comes quick.
I've also had to be creative with my leg exercises due to my back and knee. I've really had to suck my pride down and use some different exercises and lower the weight a little. I am pleased with the results, but it's taken 5 times longer to get them, but they're coming. It's been worth it in the long run.
Let us know how things go.

PoundForPound's picture

Very cool reply, man.
Even at my age, I need a little calming influence once in awhile. Ah bullshit, I need it all the time. I
Actually meditate formally for 20 minutes 2x/day. The things we're discussing tend to get back into perspective as does the input of others, after I do what I need to get centered. Lifting does that too. Cardio does it even better.
Meditation is the best but it's like you said above,
I'm pleased with the results, but it's taken 35 years for me, but it's coming on a much deeper and profound level, the benefits of which are apparent in the rest of my life And my friends and family and other drivers on the road thank me for the discipline I've shown in the above practices. All of the above have been worth it in the long run!
;-)

Started at:
600mg/week Test E
50mg Var ED
Nothing was happening after about 6 weeks except more vascularity and definition. I think Var may have been affecting my appetite, too.
So I cut out Anavar and added:
Anadrol 100mg ED
NPP 100mg EOD
Test Ace 50mg EOD
Then things started to change fast at week 8.
Thanks Iron!
