+ 4 Rt. Hip replacement 4 days ago. At 40 years old
Right hip replacement surgery at age 40. Playing 3 sports all my life , sports in college and then starting heavy weightlifting at 27 - add in a little genetic history and performance enhancing substances and you have the perfect recipe for a full hip replacement at a young age from advanced arthritis (it was getting to the point I couldn't walk). Honestly, I thought I had a high pain tolerance and everything I read said it was a cake walk.... But Dr said It was the hardest surgery he has done because of the amount of muscle mass around my legs and hips which will cause A LOT more pain. It sucks. I am ready to get my life back. This pooping stuff standing up is for the birds. -------- Plus no sexy time. No working out....keep telling myself Focus though it's only temporary. Lol hope everyone else has a great week.

Ouch mate!! My mother had this done a few years back but only one hip, she got to the point where she was sleeping downstairs as she was finding it too hard to get up the stairs on an evening and couldn't walk around town or anything. It was me who pushed her into getting it done in the end. Only time when I have had sore hips is from really hammering deadlifts but that doesn't get done as much these days lol
Watching your parents age is not an easy at all.
How’d she recover from it?
This is so true. My mom has gave up after 10 years of fighting chf. And strokes and heart issues. Cigarettes and genetics are a mother ducker.. prayers family
We haven't really spoken since then pal, she's my mother only by DNA not by the fact she acts anything like one. Walked out on me as a young child then was an alcoholic by the time I was 15/16 which is where I picked it up from. Thats when all the real abusive shit started. My father on the other hand is a great guy and every time I see him and he has aged a little it makes me sad.
Wow we’re completely opposite, but the same in that regard. My father is that way- we’ve had no contact since I was 12 and testified in court against him for breaking my ribs/arm. He could be dead I honestly don’t keep up or care to LOL!
My mother on the other hand got me and my little brother with Autism through it as a single mom working as a nurse. When we got financially stable she went back to school and became a Nurse Practitioner to better provide for us. She set the Standard in women for me and it’s pretty hard to find anyone like that in today’s world.
Sorry to hear you went through that too brother. It definitely makes ya grow up pretty fast.
I just cannot imagine a parent doing something like that to their child, but yet they do - and much worse too. Then again I guess its the same mentality as someone who abuses their own dog/animals and starves them etc They are devoid of any kind of empathy or guilt. I remember the first and only time my father back handed me across the face in a heated argument, even now I don't see it as justified and after that it very much changed the way I felt towards him - it destroyed a certain bond I had. Yeh mate I use to feel so envious of all my friends who went home after school to their mothers who thought the world of them, hugged them and asked them how their day had been. They had home cooked meals and the lot where as I had an empty house as my dad had to be at work so I had to bring myself up and learn to cook etc. It was an empty upbringing for sure.
You got this brother!! Here’s to a speedy recovery
Best of luck for a speedy recovery bro. Keep the faith, work hard on your PT, stay on that healthy diet, you'll do well!
How long do they say is recovery time. My hip hurts to a 10 every night and is interfering with my sleep bit its the recovery time that deters me
I'm not sure. Currently using a walker to get around. I'll find out way more at my post operative appt next week. This thing hurt 6,7 years before I got it looked at it. I always thought it was a groin muscle injury.
Have you tried taking BPC/TB500 for it?
That was a game changer for me.
No I haven't. I will be using the gh I have. I just love gh, makes me feel so much better. Lol
GH helps but it wont compare to both of those stacked togeather. Its night & day. You should feel a great improvement after a couple weeks.
Thanks mate!!!
KonstantViktoryCheers to a speedy recovery... my aunt has had her hips replaced and she seems to be doing just fine. I think it took about a year before things were normal. I know the medical technology has improved quite a bit since then. What type of surgery did you get done? Do you know the specifics of the operation?
I dont think your aunt ever did steroids and my uncle had hip replacement and never tried it in his life so i dont think its fair to say "performance enhancing substances and you have the perfect recipe for a full hip replacement" lol. Just kidding with ya man. Hope you have a fast recovery @Gymmanager
Right total hip arthroplasty. You are correct medical advances have made this a much more successful surgery. Usually incisions are a lot smaller now. When it first start they were about a 13 inch u-shaped. Then they got smaller as technology advanced. But For those who have muscular legs it's about ten inches long. It requires a lot more cutting and takes longer. Plus I have to refuse all narcotics because of my past so they got me on trazodone , flexerall , and gabapentin to help. After the surgery though they maxed me out on fentanyl , diladid, and roxicet. It was bad. Just taking it day by day. Body dysmorphia kicking in though. :(
Dam good luck and God bless
Thanks brother
