Customer: It is supposed to be the 191 amino acid sequence (human growth hormone) with a weight of 22,125d. Is there a tolerance to be with in or is it suppose to weigh exactly that?

Brian: Somatotropin? The 191 aa sequence is here. The computed weight is 22115.07 Da. We get 22145.20 Da, a difference of +30.13 Da, which is very close - different by less than two water molecules. Our measurement is precise. Do you have any more information about it? If it is recombinant, manufacturers will often modify it in some way.

Customer: Also were you able to tell what the percentage of the 191 sequence was in the sample tested?

Brian: It appears pure. There are no observable lower molecular weight species. Only higher molecular weight species which are presumably salt adducts.
