Blood pressure got outta control because I was lazy with diet and training. Did a lot of research and decided that an ARB(losartan or telmisartan) would probably be best for me. After digging a little deeper I found that telmisartan had a much longer half life and would offer better all day coverage. I learned a valuable lesson years ago, never approach anyone with a problem without a solution even doctors. So my doctor wanted to put me on an ACE inhibitor and I suggested an ARB and explained why. He said ok I'll start you out on losartan and we'll go from there and I suggested telmisartan and explained why. He gets on his computer for a few minutes and says it sounds like you know more about this than I do and agreed. So after a few visits this is where I'm at and the best part is after insurance it's only $1.78 for a thirty day script.
"KNOWLEDGE IS POWER" and it's the only thing you have that cannot be taken!!!

I always tried to recommend good drugs too but then they’d look at me in disgust and send me home with ibuprofen or buspar.
All jokes aside, it seems that most doctors are told what to prescribe for whatever ailment and will always go that route until that med doesn’t work. My boy went to an endo and the doctor prescribed him 1.5mg letro daily. I was shocked. He told her the cycle he was on and she ended up asking him 100 questions. She said that they never teach them this stuff in school about the illicit hormones such as trenbolone and masteron. He ended up explaining more to her than what she could do for him, and she’s the one with the script pad!
Way to be proactive bro. I’m on a Losarton/amlodopine/HCTZ combo pill (HBP is very prevalent in my family) and I also use a Withings smart BP Cuff & monitor combo to track it over time in Apple Health. HBP absolutely is a silent killer and I’m happy to see you spreading the word about it.
Also- I use the phrase “knowledge is power” all the time. It makes my blood boil when people say “I didn’t know”, “how was I supposed to know” etc. I’m like “You have the fucking Oracle of Delphi (your smartphone) in your pocket where you can literally find the answer to any fucking question imaginable, and you’re going to tell me you don’t know???”
I was definitely reactive instead of proactive but it's under control now. Maybe it'll get someone off their ass to be proactive with theirs. I had a boss tell me years ago that "ignorance is no excuse" I was young and was definitely right lmao
Right from my early days on here I was told to look into BP meds by other members, it was almost preached to me at times which kinda put me off the thought even more. I was an idiot who was all excited about running any kinds of steroids he could get his hands on, and I only wanted to spend my money on compounds rather than things that would protect my health. During the early days when you are ignorant to just how dangerous they are, and you have yet to experience going into ER as a result of abusing them you just think 'none of that will ever happen to me'. After going into hospital with steroid induced liver hepatitis and not even being able to hold fluid down as the liver pain was so bad - I started to take it a whole lot more seriously. Still took a while to get on the BP meds though as I had this stupid stigma in my head of they were just for old men with heart problems, little did I know I desperately needed to be taking them and even more importantly is bringing down Blood pressure makes training so much more enjoyable and easy, not to mention safe.

Telmisartan is good. I was on Losartan. It basically made me impotent and had no sex drive. I had my dr switch me to Olmesartan. WOW what a difference. It is super effective and as a side effect (?) it actually lowers bad cholesterol.
Diltiazem did that to me.

Yes telmisartin is supposedly king. It’s crazy how little some of these doctors actually know, and people think they are saints or gods. It’s good that your doctor didn’t have a crazy Ego and was able to admit that he didn’t know everything, he’s probably a good doctor.

Doctors really only know about what the pharma reps/drug dealers are pushing at the moment. That does sound like a good doctor. I'm sure the pharma reps would not be pleased with FJB wanting a product that has an expired patent. Lol
my wife has medullary sponge disease (kidneys), she was diagnosed about 2 years ago, apparently she was born with it. Kidney specialist gave her the typical watch your diet, stay away from sodium, drink a lot of water rundown. Never said anything about any non prescription treatments (to nobody’s surprise) after doing my own research I found all the amazing benefits Grapeseed extract has on kidney health, she started taking 500 mg per day, 3 months later went back for tests and all her elevated numbers were back into normal range, including high white blood cell count, and had no kidney stones reappear. Yes. I take astragalus root every day as well. I’ll research different organ protection supplements and pick through the ingredients to see what seems to be the most effective, then put in my cart for my next supplement order. I never get sick and my bloodwork always comes back amazing.
They don't know about natural remedies. They only know about the drugs pushed by pharma reps. I'm sure there has to be some doctors that know about and use some natural remedies. My woman has sponge kidneys and gets kidney stones. She's been taking chanca piedra for a few years and it's helped. She hasn't had a kidney stone in a while since she started it. About 6 years or so. She's looking at Grape Seed extract right now. She had one so big that when it finally passed out of her bladder, it got stuck on the way out and she dug it out with her finger.
Bro the Grapeseed works wonders, as long as she sticks to the protocol (like any supplement) it makes a huge difference. My wife also has auto immune and fibromyalgia, so natural remedies and supplements are critical.

You're welcome. They research medical research from colleges and other places that do studies on natural stuff. They were raided by the FDA in the 80's, at gunpoint, for selling vitamins. They fought a long battle and won. I don't know if they still have it, but they had a museum called the FDA holocaust museum or something like that. It had all of the things the FDA stood in the way of that would have saved lives. Like penicillin for example.
And to think there are actually people that won’t touch anything that doesn’t have FDA approval. If the FDA doesnt approve it, I want it lol.

It's all about money. Big pharma wants DRs to push the "latest/greatest' meds, so they and insurance can charge highest rates for meds, when for many conditions, Generics, no longer covered by the Patent, are pennies on the $$.
Why do insurance companies agree to pay top dollar for meds that they’ll sell to us for cash way cheaper, same with medical procedures and stuff. Usually companies give each other crazy discounts and fuck the consumer, but there’s some sketchy shit going on when insurance AGREES to pay 1,000$ a pill but if I pay cash it’s only like 100$ a pill, what’s up with that?
That’s because they are all in it together and getting filthy rich off of ppl being sick at the end of the day. That’s why I say anyone that actually believes their government gives a shit about them or their health really need to look at the big picture. Why do all the big wig politicians and CEO’s have so much money invested in BigPharm, they won’t offer cures, only meds that are guaranteed to keep us sick.
The system feeds itself. Its all overpriced to pay pharma R&D back with government subsidies kicking back. They make billions in the returns, then you pay higher insurance premiums to cover it. You can't even sue them for the harmful effects now bc they're protected.

They got that immunity from lawsuits by saying “if we’re allowed to be sued by everyone we hurt, we’ll be bankrupt in a week because so many people will be suing us, we won’t be able to make vaccines” well then your doing something wrong motherfucker!!
They’ve complete changed the definition of vaccines. Now they aren’t cures to eradicate a virus or disease, just lessen the impact of potential illness. Just be sure to get your booster every 3 months!!!!

The insurance companies don't give a fuck. They just raise your rates. Who knows, they may get kickbacks from the drug companies to approve paying for prescriptions on top of raising rates. Probably insider trading too. The insurance companies get a heads up when the next best thing is about to be FDA approved.

Dude the pharmacies just make the prices up. My girl doesn’t have insurance so she pays cash for her prescriptions and there’s literally no rhyme or reason to it. A lot of medications it’s cheaper the more you buy, not cheaper per pill (that would make sense) but actually cheaper to buy more. So many times I swear it’s a random fucking number. One script of hers is supposed to be like 12$ per pill for 60 of them that would be 720$ but it’s always like 110$ and if she only buys half it’s like 160$ which makes no goddamn sense.

Could’ve been change in coverage amount, etc. it’s a cheap drug, no reason to pay shit ton for it. And it’s easy to get your DR to prescribe for anyone if BP is issue. Just talk to them.
In other countries new drugs only get approved if the out comes are much better than current drugs. If they are not, no reason fr a higher priced drug. Great podcast Joe rogan did about the FDA. You can kill 40000 people because you removed vital heart attack info and get the drug through the fda and nobody goes to jail. oh, you also still make a couple billion.

If you notice a lot of them only know what the little drug pamphlet says about that medication. When my son was born we took him to the hospital for something and they couldn’t really figure it out. While waiting I typed his ymptoms in on google and it gave this list of things it could be, like A,B, and C. A little while later the doctor came out and said “ ok, I think I’ve figured it out, it’s either A, B, or C” like word for word exactly what google said, so basically he went in the back room and googled it
I can tell which DR do the research. When I see a new med that IDK about, I go to their website and look up ALL details the commercials leave out.
