6 weeks. I have never posed before that picture, don't really plan on doing it offen. will keep that in mind though, thanks for the advice. Just trying to get bigger. I fluctuate weight a lot, I'm sure a lot is water.

Posing isn't just an ego thing, or strictly for the stage. It forces you to master your muscles. To be able to control their contractions and bend them to your will. If you do it intermittently during training (not gonna lie, best when there's not many people around), you'll find it's like adding sets and reps. It's exhausting, and can be the harbinger of some fantastic pumps!

Even if you don't plan on competing, in my opinion it's worth practicing a few basic poses.

That makes sense. So in between sets of exercise? You do it the whole time or just a couple times a workout. I don't know a lot about bodybuilding, I've just always worked out to stay in over all shape. I just got into bodybuilding a year ago. It's pretty much saved my life. I am in recovery and couldn't stay clean for any amount of time. This gives me something to be passionate about. I have almost 2 years and this website has helped alot

I understand what you mean, but I don't think it has to be a negative. The way I see it, you, me, everybody had a right to be happy as long as we're not harming anyone else with what we're doing. Illegality doesn't mean much when the law itself is, to put it point blank, stupid. I look at it the same way pro choicers do: MY body, MY choice

And I will not feel guilty for doing what makes me happy.

mlr2199's picture

Yeah I feel you. The thing is I've done so much dirt, that Its hard to know if I'm doing the right thing by using aas. I know this has been the best 2 years I've had in a while

Using heroin or fentanyl (not saying you were, these are just examples) or whatever isn't wrong per se. Just because it's illegal, so what? The government does not have sovereignty over our bodies. Neither do cops. What is wrong is lying, stealing, spreading disease via dirty needles, and sundry other junkie behavior. I work for my gear, as do I assume the rest of us. I've never heard of someone pawning his mom's engagement ring to pay for testosterone.

I'm not gonna tell another man how to feel. My opinion is, no matter anyone's history, as long as the gear is paid for by money attained via A JOB and it's not being sold to kids, there's nothing to be guilty about. I've done a lot of things in my life that I'm guilty about. Using gear has literally never even crossed my mind as one of those things.

I do agree. I feel guilty about it at times, but it better to turn my obsession towards something better than dope. Well that's what I tell myself anyway. And the AA community considers it as using. But it is the only thing that keeps me out of trouble. I've tried everything all the money and resort style treatment centers couldn't keep clean off dope.

One day at a time my brother. Congratulations on the 2 yrs clean time. A lot of us in recovery have used the weight room to help our sobriety. (it surplants some of the endorphins we use to get other ways) But don't neglect the rooms of AA either. They literally saved my life. As I'd found the gym 35 yrs ago. Keep a good balance in your life and you'll do fine. Peace and good luck! D

mlr2199's picture

Thanks, you are right about the rooms. I still go at least twice a week. That's awesome you been sober that long. It seems like so far away from here though.

helloBrooklyn's picture

That's awesome. I love hearing things like that, for real.

You don't even have to think of it as posing. One of many things I learned from Arnold's encyclopedia of modern bodybuilding (essential reading!) is how powerful a tool flexing is. People associate flexing with douchebags lifting up their shirts in the mirror and blowing kisses/winking at themselves. But it doesn't mean that. It means putting extra tension on the muscle(s) you're training in a given session and really making them burn. Flexing your arms for example after curls doesn't have to be an exhibition where you lick whipped cream off of your bicep (again, that's the public perception of flexing lol). It can be done just by squeezing the arm in a hanging position without anyone else even noticing. I'll say this: mind-muscle connection shouldn't be broken just because a set is over!

Gotta work on the posing, bro. It's an art form. You look like you just rolled out of bed and you're yawning. You're not projecting confidence.

15 lbs in how long?

And I did just roll out of bed
