+ 37 1st Bodybuilding comp pics

ad

Here are some pics from my first bodybuilding competition. Not to shabby for a 44 year old. Just to recap I placed 1st in the middleweight division, first in the masters 40+ and I took the masters overall championship. Couldn't have done any better. Big shout out to the whole Eroids community for your support and knowledge to help make this possible.

What I really would like to get is your feedback on what I need to improve in my physique. I put a bunch of pictures up so hopefully you can get a good look at all the angles and give me some feedback. I'll be getting the judges comments shortly also but I value the input from the Eroids community on what I can work on to improve. My goal is to put on 15 solid pounds of lean mass over the next year and improve on my weak points so I can really come back and dominate the competition next year.

Thanks.

I know this is old an old post... But first off id like to say great job. At 44 bringing the physique you did on stage is a phenomenal achievement.
For constructive criticisms sake I feel that the two main things that could have made the biggest difference on your presentation that day are conditioning and your posing. As far as conditioning you were holding some lower back and glute fat that could have easily been taken care of with a little more time... No biggie. Your legs could have used a little more intra muscular separation, I suggest incorporating high rep/intensity bad exercises... It helped me tuns w/out shrinking my legs. It also seems like your muscle bellys were a bit flat and lacked roundness in some photos, also easily fixed with dietary tweaks.
Your posing needs some practice, in a few photos I notice you forget to flex your legs a little when hitting an upper body dominant pose. For your front double Bicep pose you could have easily made you peaks a tad bit higher, and achieved a much fuller looking Bicep by just twisting your your wrists inwards a little. It would have also engaged your lats a bit giving you a more dimensional look. Your rear Lat spread looks like you're not engaging the hamstring muscle enough and not opening your back as far as you possibly could with a little practice. Side chest is a mess but maybe it was just you transitioning into it white the photo was being taken, if not you need to twist at the waist more and flare out/ flex your quad more.
Again, I feel your presentation actually hindered your physique... Remember good posing is being able to make your weaknesses go unnoticed, don't underestimate it.

yes very late response, but i just seen this post, so, first great great job you are grainy all over i dont know who your diet coach is but excellent, i am also 44 and about or was about to do my first show until i got cancer and lost a kidney due to a tumor , and it was not from gear, my kidneys where functioning fine but a tumor was lodged in my left kidney, so i had to lose alot of time and coming back, anyway, your upper body excellent maybe back upper back thickness but great upper body, great calves too!! very good, maybe some overall leg mass thats about it, id like to see your precontest cycle and diet?/ GREAT JOB WAY TO GO

Never got to comment on these, looked at them 3 times now Lol, you looked in credible.. very much stage worthy... my favorite pose you had was the most muscular in front of the american flag and the chopper.. Insane! I am thoroughly impressed to say the least and might I add I will be using your bulking method this winter when I start my second cycle.. great work champ! +1

Thanks for all the support, comments and feedback. Seems like calves and hams need the most work. That's what I needed to hear so I know what to put a lilttle more work into. I also want to build up my traps a little a more and work on some more mass for my chest. Kind of seems like I have a pancake chest when doing front double biceps. I little thickness in my upper back would be nice to work on also. Lots to do. 53 weeks to work on stuff until next years comp. Plan on coming in 15lbs heavier next year also.

I think one of the most impressive shots is when you're walking out in a relaxed posture. If you can look good relaxed, that's fucking amazing!

Nice striations in the triceps and how it works great with your biceps; for the best part everything has synergy.

Polished, dense and great muscle maturity Makwa. You mopped the floor with this physique, so not much to improve except add more mass to your legs. You look awesome man, very nice work!

Bro you have an incredible old school physique-reminiscent of the Arnold era bbers. I can only see what has been mentioned already: focus on ham and calf work. It probably will be damn near impossible to get your calves to the size of your upper arms at your age, but thats ideal. Maybe some Jeffersons to try to add some mass to the hams along with a grip of stiff legs. If them things hang like Kai greene's used to about 5 years ago, you bring up the calf mass and definition, and you do some glute work you're gonna have the whole package. +1

You look great my friend. Definitely proud of you. Bring the hams and calves up and pound some high volume , quality reps with some focuses on the contraction. You did great mak but let's see how many first place trophies you can rack up now =).

Most muscular is definitely sick!! Congratulations on your win and your an inspiration to others

NoWeakAces's picture

Your "most muscular" is outstanding. At 44, you're an inspiration to me at 36. ++

And since you asked, hamstrings and back are your weak points. And they're only weak because of the strength of your front.
