"NSA proof" email provider
ad
Original post from:
In light of the recent news, communication safety should be a priority for each of us and if you guys are really concerned about your safety, this is a free encrypted email provider based in switzerland. Even hushmail and safemail security is crap, they send records and history to fbi, as do most providers. Switzerland is outside of US and EU jurisdiction.

losingtheplotNSA ain't looking for steroid buyers... common... not even the FBI is looking into this subject anymore they're into counter-terrorism and serious things. Lets not become overly paranoid. Of course, dealing openly with a Gmail account ain't too smart. And you really don't wanna be on a "NSA proof" mail server, imagine the crowds you're mingling with there, if you access a certain watched domain you're DNS server will most likely record you're access and time-stamp, not to mention your provider will know as well (and the whole network carrying your packets). Its like you're walking into a Strip-Club and everyone knowing but cannot prove you went to strippers. Yeah... pretty smart.
TechieAlways look forward to trying a new encrypted email client. Looks pretty good. Already signed up for beta.
But for author to say it's NSA proof is pretty bold. The emails aren't sent in the clear and therefor aren't filtered through the NSA's email taps as everything else is, but if the NSA wanted to decrypt an email from/to a ProtonMail client they would be able to. Unless they think you're ISIS or the like they probably wouldn't bother wasting their time though
Theres another on claimed to be nsa proof, Tutanota. Its based in germany. But arent swiss laws the most strict when it comes to privacy? It says in the article that swiss cannot hand over any info to any other country that are trying to do an investigation.
TechieAs far as the NSA getting the German or Swiss government to just hand over emails stored on servers within their country I'm sure is pretty much the same.
But to be NSA proof technically means that the NSA can't decrypt the message, which is pretty much false. If you're in the states and sent an email in the clear or encrypted chances are it passed through a NSA tap, most likely in CA. In which case the NSA already has the data in their hands and probably know who it came from (alias or actual name) and where it's going.
Unless you meet the NSAs criteria for red flags you're for the most part safe because there are entirely way too many billions of emails to filter through.
Great post
