Icarus (Movie)

ad

An interesting look behind the curtain of the World Anti-Doping Agency.

Ok finally watched the whole movie this went alot farther than I thought it did I honestly just thought Russia was just cheating like everyone else but damn they cheat really well except they got caught.
The tool marks, I want to see the tool that unlocks a locking bottle. They probably had some genius in Russia in a room for who knows how long trying to figure that out.
Witness protection program
I didn't see that coming and this all stemed from some stupid docu about a guy trying to dope like Lance Armstrong.
Its definitely worth the watch

I definitely don't think it was the documentary he set out to make. In the end I think these anti doping efforts only serve these elitest dickheads that need to justify their income.
I personally think all of these "PED's" should be legal. The only test you should be required to pass is, are you healthy enough to participate, end of story.

That guy dan catlin they were asking him questions and this was my favorite part of the whole movie was. "How many athletes do you think are really doping right now"
He didn't skip a beat and came right back with all of them are doping.
It was golden everyone uses its only cheating if you get caught

helloBrooklyn's picture

If everyone uses then no one is cheating, though.

I think it's unreasonable to expect athelites not to use substances that help them perform and heal. Mark Cuban has been pretty vocal about that in regards to HGH.

Gettingbig's picture

This is why when basketball players and football players go on injured reserve they travel to Europe to do there "rehab"
They go there because a doctor in eu will treat them with hgh and they heal so much quicker from the injury.

Gettingbig's picture

Its only cheating if you get caught

My football coach would tell us this all the time

helloBrooklyn's picture

The one who's currently in the clink?

Gettingbig's picture

They killed the other 2 guys that could have told then this one ran to America and gave them the whole story. You should definitely watch it you will enjoy this once t.

True story.

Gettingbig's picture

I have taken a peak at the movie im going to watch it in full this weekend.
I was surprised to see the mouthwash bottles they talk about. I guess I thought they would look different.
Also whats going on with the guy inj getting all those bruises. I've never bruised like that after an injection

Generator's picture

Yeah, I love the HRT "specialist" that has him injecting test subq!

You missed it. He had a mechanical issue with the bike. Couldn't change gears for a huge part of the race. Customers him big time

Owes a Review × 1
Gettingbig's picture

Yeah that's what put him back before that he was doing great. He had to climb 100 kilometers in one gear im not sure which one but without the juice he might not even been able to finish that leg of the race

Gettingbig's picture

I haven't watched the whole thing yet but if he was doping as they would call it and he finished worse then when he was natty he needs to create an account here lol

Generator's picture

Ha !

helloBrooklyn's picture

I watched the little preview on Netflix. Typical anti-PED propaganda. I lolled and watched The Matrix instead.

helloBrooklyn's picture

Pretty sure I heard the word "cheater" used several times throughout the trailer. I could be wrong.

Emperort's picture

Maybe the preview /trailer is misleading, I had the same impression of @helloBrooklyn.

Generator's picture

I'm always annoyed how the worlds elite expect athelites to perform at peak levels but shun them for any use of compounds that assist performance and repair.

helloBrooklyn's picture

Seriously. I'm sorry, but if I were competing in the Olympics and somebody refused to stick a needle in his ass just like every other guy (and girl) in the games out of "morals," then he'd have to get the fuck off the team. If we're there we're there to win, and there's no room for liabilities. Do you love your county or not? I'd be ashamed if I found out an athlete representing the US wasn't doping. Like, why even bother showing up if you're not taking it seriously?

And Lance Armstrong. Nothing but respect for that guy and his accomplishments. Had to deal with cancer and being made a national scapegoat.

Generator's picture

Average life expectancy in 1900 was 46, everyone alive today is essentially doping. They scapegoat Bonds, Armstrong, Marion Jones with, "they've lost the our trust". Fuck your trust, lazy arm chair quarterbacks, this is business !

helloBrooklyn's picture

That's a great point. Modern medicine is like cheating to prolong life beyond natty expectancy.
