Hi all. I am a former alcoholic and drug addict. It was a good job, friendly family and children. But the big money turned my head and I did not notice how I became addicted and sunk to the bottom. I lost my whole family, respect for relatives and children. But for a year now I have been struggling with this and do not accept anything.

It's hard to accept anything brother. When we see ourselves so strong as men.
Throw in good money and all these sparkly things. And. We grow to a sense of pride. Nothing can penetrate through brother. We all have been there.
In one shape .form or fashion. I have everything in the world..how can I!! Be an alcoholic. How can I feel a sense of a bottom when I have everything.
Humility my dear friend.
Sometimes quickly , sometimes slowly. But it defines us as addicts and paves the way for a journey out of the abyss

The big book of a.a says.
Get sober and sometimes the family comes back.. regardless it shouldn't be defining if they do. You just have to stay sober for you right now.

Mine never came back. I had alot of wreckage
But it happens.
Change for you. So
You can be of service to others.
A change behavior will create something wonderfully and your family will see it.
One day at a time brother.
We are always here. In this forum and dm
Stay strong

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, how I needed those words of support. The feeling that I can do everything and never return to the old life. And rightly said that I can be useful to others. By my example, I also try to help my friends who cannot give up alcohol.

It only takes 1 person with our affliction to help another.. our possibilities are endless and we can achieve anything brother. We gotta stop letting (ourselves)! Get in the way.
Glad to see you on here with us.

Bro, I wish you that your family returned. I was able to let go of the burden on my heart and you were reunited.

Yea me too brother. I pay about 800 month child support for one Daughter. And can't even see her. Not a second of the day goes by that I don't think of her..
I'm at ease that financially she is being taken care of by me. Her mother takes really good care of her.... I get pics through email sometimes. I'm at a crossroads with it too. She should know her father. Me and her were close. I think alot of it. Is she keep her away from me in spite and for the mother to protect herself. ( her mother and I can't be around each other without falling in love all over again. Extreme connection...)) I've never physically hurt them or ever put them in danger. Just spent our money. Ran off on benders. Infidelity once or 2wice and horrible words You just never know what we do. When we become Mr hyde
I'm in a position to fight for custody. But why put them through any more stress and pain.
I know in my heart . They will see the man I have become and will have another chance at being that little girls daddy again. That all I want to be a great daddy

Recovery makes all this possible
After GOD!

Bro, I read these sad lines and wish you perseverance and faith in that. what the family will see, and most importantly, will open the heart in your direction. They will see your care, love and you will be able to see your daughter. I pray to God to help you.

You are a GREAT GUY Buddy, reading all that just put a lump in my throat.

She will come back in time buddy once she is convinced that you have permanently changed your ways, when you hurt a woman deeply it takes A LOT to convince them you have changed for good especially if she was a good woman to you - so just make sure you stay on the straight and narrow healthy life, NEVER EVER go back to the way you were or Press will come round and wrap a 45 around your cannister!! Lmao Smile ROFL

Hello. I love it when you write about serious things with a positive attitude, involuntarily start to smile and believe that everything will be fine. Thank you.

In terms of hobbies or passions that you enjoy, what makes you the happiest and most content?

Crispbread's picture

I love Lego, especially the Technic series. I'm all immersed and straight satisfied and happy. I also started collecting brownie dolls Smile

You were supposed to say training buddy!! Lol Only kidding - but if it was then concentrating on this we all have found helps so much in beating an alcohol or drugs craving because you must stay healthy, alert and well to keep progressing from session to session. The energy expenditure also helps greatly with built up anxiety and negative emotions, it all helps keep you in a positive and strong state of mind. Quite simply if you were to relapse then it would all go to waste and progression would stall and go backwards - which if you are into your training is the worst possible outcome in the world.

Thanks for the help, I try, and when it's difficult, I look at the progress that I have made, it motivates me. It also motivates how the opinions and attitudes of people change, they saw me at the very bottom and now and also support me strongly. I can handle it and be able to.

PropheticWookie's picture

This is a very, very good hobby. When I had free time, I also liked to collect LEGO.

The main thing is to take a step towards a normal life every day, and when it is difficult and you want to return to addiction again, think about the loved ones for whom you are trying.

Crispbread's picture

I try very hard to do the right things and think positively. And drive away bad thoughts.

PropheticWookie's picture

A positive attitude is one of the keys to success. You can.

Yes, hope and faith helps to follow this path. And God is always with me, he gives me strength and confidence that I can.
