+ 6 arduous jail stint clarity
My most sobering and absolutely humbling moment comes from a couple bad decisions culminating in the loss of my freedom for 34 months of my extremely miniscule and overly redundant life.I would love to take the easy route and blame the crooked police, a judicial system stacked against me and lastly, a completely incompetent lawyer. Being the reborn man that I truly believe I am I have to level the blame where it solely belongs....only on these shoulders I once spent so many days obsessing over. In retrospect, my arrogance being the culprit bringing my downfall upon me, the hardest to admit to myself and another person. In my absence life never skipped a beat, no one cried for me, no one rioted in the streets in the name of justice while looting their hometown stores. While I was gone the world lost a great man who had his share of suffering in a dear John letter while going through hell on the 38th parallel. My grandfather, the absolute definition of 'a good man' passed away at the age of 95.
My closest, *self-proclaimed loyal friend played a pivotal role in my successful incarceration. All to avoid jail time stemming from their own stupidity. Now I'm back home looking at all that never ever realized I was gone. A daily reminder that notariety is only in ones head. I see how small and insignificant we all are in relation to this immense spinning world. While most of are worried about bicep and the length of their penis, the zen moment of patients and maturity came when the letters stopped, commissary dried and that little dick spiderman is playing king of the hill shooting his pathetic webs on my bed and in that backstabbing ex I once saw forever in.
Counting blessings I could have went away for much much longer if the DA wanted to file all the charges those dirty cops tried to pile on just to bury me upstate.
My best advice to those members younger than myself: You have nothing to prove to anyone except the person you see in the mirror every day. Very few of your Friends will make it past their darkest day let alone be there in support of yours.Find a girl who is your best friend and the object of all those teenage lustful "daydreams". Do everything you can to make her yours and tell her everyday how special she is. Don't be afraid to cry, life hurts and pain is normal; how boring would life be If the good times were all that we had. Don't let drugs cloud your judgement and don't let material things be the scale on which you judge success.
Being a hardworking man is nothing to take lightly and the young family growing up around you will notice. Knuckle up and maybe you will be the kind of man my grandfather was to me.
Thank you guys for reading. I love you all take care.

So heavy. I remember that moment when the letters stop, the commissary funds dry up, and people stop answering the phone. It’s the worst, most lonely feeling in the world. But that seems to be the moment we realize that the work that needs done is only going to come from inside. That was an incredibly well-written passage. I felt it. Even though it’s mixed with some of the worst memories, I hope you and I both remember it forever because I believe it’s what keeps us on the right track. To know that life is one bad decision away… now that is sobering. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing your experience, strength, and hope here on eroids. Honest and Brave share. I have a tatt that says I am responsible. I am sorry for your loss and your pain. I am proof you can get through difficult times and be the man you were born to be. Finding a higher power and living in service to others has made all the difference for me. Good Luck~!
Well spoken and felt deeply. I've been there and lived it. These are the moments of clarity that allow us to see who we truly are, as well as the world and ppl for what it is. It's the pivotal moment that changes who we are and strive to be.
I hope that moving forward, you can find peace and happiness within yourself. Become who you want to be and NEVER allow others to cloud who you really are from yourself.
This world can be a treacherous place brother. Keep your head up, your heart and mind strong and build yourself up to your own standards and never let anyone take a thing from you again. Including yourself! Have a great day bro!
Thanks for sharing this story. Life is suffering and you’re 100% right, when we consistently put the blame else where we lose agency and we are rudderless. A book I read (or possibly a podcast I heard years ago) advised to treat everything as if you are responsible. It is the best advice I ever heard. There’s always light at the end of the tunnel. It’s never too late. Talk to God.
