Please Help!! Knee Issues - Want to squat

ad
Default - Use Group's defaults.

First time post in this particular group, so please don't hold it against me. A few months ago I started to develop some minor knee pain when squatting ATG. Over time this pain at the base of my patella became more predominate and jumping and stairs become a challenge as well. I've tried BPC-157 subQ for about 45 days with no relief. I also tried Truameel which appears to add temporary relief from pain. I saw an Ortho and got an MRI which showed that I had some minor blistering behind my patella. This resulted in me getting a cortisone shot. I now have Alflutop on order and hope to run through their 21 day cycle. I would also like to try Pentosan but have no clue on where to find this stuff. I've checked all the sources on this site and other than going to see a legit horse vet I'm coming up dry. If anyone has any suggestions or would point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. Perhaps I should be looking at another solution?

Do you have any grinding or clicking sound coming from your knees?

There is a good chance you suffer Chondromalacia patella (CMP) involves damage to the articular cartilage which is the smooth hard cartilage under the kneecap.

There are a few treatments, but I would first clear your body of anything you have been buying on the internet. Use O2 Cold and Compression Knee Wrap during working, that will reduce swelling. You can find this on Amazon for about $40.

Take over the counter anti inflammatory medication, like Ibuprofen.

Exercises - A full knee rehabilitation program with specific exercises should be done. Exercises are usually aimed at increasing the strength of the vastus medialis muscle on the inside of the knee and stretching the lateral quadricep muscle on the outside of the knee. Sports massage can help relax the lateral structures of the knee.

Surgery is not common although can be a last resort if exercise rehabilitation has not worked. Surgery is via an arthroscopy or keyhole surgery where the damaged cartilage is removed or shaved off.

Until you are recovered, you can't do squats and need to keep the deadlift very easy. Instead, focus on leg and glute exercises that do not involve the knees.

  1. Glute Bridge
  2. Hip Thrust
  3. Clam Movements
  4. And certain calf exercises that involve no knee movement.

Stay off the stairs and take it easy.
