Training on Adderall
ad
So my doctor recently prescribed me some Adderall XR 20mgs to help with school. I've found it pretty effective for work and study habits. Especially with Finals. I don't take it everyday, but when I do I fear it will inhibit my workouts. I guess I'm afraid of my heart exploding or something lol.
Anyone have experience taking this on training days? I typically train around 4pm with a pre-workout drink...
Currently not on any AAS. Been running HGH(Norditropin) at 2-3ius for 3 months now.

I been taking addorall for the past 2 or 3 years. I spent up to two hours at the gym, 30 to 45 min intensive cardio and never had any issues. The only thing i found that work better for me is instead of taking 20mg xr I now switched over to getting 30mg standard and braking them in 4 pieces so i take chips throughout the day as i need them. Usually I take a chip every morning and maybe another one at lunch and rarely but sometimes one with dinner as well. .
AnonIve been on adderall for years. It does supress appetite, no doubt. For me it also increases endurance and keeps me fixated on what Im doing. Many times ive taken adderall and spent 2-3 hours in the gym doing set after set after set thinking I was only there for an hour. Time seems to fly when your stimulated. I dont have much problem getting my calories in on adderall, sometimes It makes me not wanna eat solid foods so I just drink protein shakes or weight gainer or whatever to keep the calories coming. Or simply force feed (which is awful on adderall btw). Adderall wont turn you into a skeleton, its not very catabolic like some people believe, its the appetite supression that makes it seem so. Adderall will cut your appetite down to nothing all day and thats what shreds the pounds. If you continue to eat at a surplus you will gain weight. I myself have gone from 165lbs to 220lbs over time all while on adderall. Its just a manner of getting those calories in.
My blood pressure is high from being on adderall for years, not too high but pre-hypertension or stage-1. Its my top number thats high. Heart does beat faster on adderall, your resting heart rate will simply be higher. So if you have heart problems I wouldnt even look at adderall. The heart is what scares me with adderall. So much so I do an EKG once a year to check my valves and such. Staying hydrated is very important on adderall, it tends to flush you. Including bowel movements. Much like coffee makes you shit, adderall does that 10x as bad.
Ive seen many people abuse adderall for school or weight-loss and a few people grown very dependent on the drug. I suppose I myself am also dependent. I take it regularly and have for years and feel as if It causes adrenal fatigue.
If you have a prescription for it and need it for school or work or whatever then be careful, stay hydrated and be aware of what your body is telling you and keep an eye on the heart and blood pressure. If you dont have a prescription or a real need for it then I would stay away.
THanks man, nice to hear from someone who's been taking it for awhile.
What dose have you been on? Currently I have 20mg XR. and I only take 20-40mgs a week
I am also prescribed it but I refuse to take it. Ive noticed when I workout on it my heart rate is much higher then normal. Its definitely a wonder drug for studying but It literally kills my appetite. I cannot eat anything when I take it in the morning and then 9pm comes around and I binge on shit like pizza. I was doing a small cut when I was taking it and I found it to be extremely catabolic. I lost a lot more muscle then normal. Probably has something to do with not being able to eat enough but still I think Its bad for muscle. If you can eat on it then maybe its not so bad.
Being an Amphetamine it will drive your metabolism through the roof. For a growing percent of the developed world's obese population, those effects are actually desired. If you're not one of the 99.9 percent of individuals out there and you actually maintain a decent bf% then yes, daily use of Adderall would definitely cause you to lose weight if you're not modifying your intake to keep up with the increased expenditure.
I few months ago I took some adderall to study for an exam and then popped a viagra in expectation of my girlfriend later that night. That was a mistake as she decided she didn't want to fool around that night. I had to run 2 miles to the gym just to get the wood to subside and I was so amped I hit the heavy bag for about 30 minutes straight, no gloves. Bad night all around.
Haha damn... Ya I cant say I'll be trying Adderall in combo with viagra anytime. I have noticed it does curb my appetite a bit but I don't diverge from my daily meals. My intake still remains the same whether I'm hungry or not.
I've noticed the appetite suppression as well. That in combination with the increased metabolism and some summer sun and water sports I've documented a loss of 7 pounds in a day... and I was already lean going into it! It took me two weeks to get that weight back. lol It was an epic day at the Rehab pool party in Vegas
great, I live in Vegas haha.
One of the last drugs you want to be using if you're trying to build muscle. ADHD?
Thanks for the responses guys. I'm going to talk with my Doc about it some more (He's a bodybuilder too), so I think he'll understand my concern for muscle lose and performance if there is any.
That being said, I can defiantly see this inhibiting muscle gains if taken daily. two to three times a month seems unlikely to cause serious negative effects. I'll def watch my blood pressure tho.
PEZ knows a lot on the subject. I was prescribed to adderall for a while and it caused some prostate issues for me which was very uncomfortable. I've since stopped taking it with no issues. However if you're only taking it periodically you may be fine but it's something to look out for. Also it's going to suppress appetite (counter productive) and I've heard like Italian says below that catabolism is Increased
Good touch on the prostate issues, no homo that sounded so homo.
This has happened to a lot of individuals I know.
man that stuff is highly catabolic meaning(it makes realese catabolic hormone to destroy tissue), would do a little reserch, dont think aphetamine, traning, diet and hormones go toghether.........
you learn something new everyday.. I had no idea it did that.. but im no doc
This is a conversation to have with the doctor that prescribed it as far as I know we are not a medical professionals and do not know your medical history or poss complications that can arise from taking this med. please go talk with your doc and be honest with him
Eroids frowns on these type of substances being discussed in an open forum.
As said by few below, it's a highly addictive amphetamine and can be very destructive on your health. No one would run it in conjunction with any healthy training protocol. Stay clear of this destructive path.
My bad if it is tabo, however this is a legitimate medication prescribed by my Dr. I have never heard of eroids flaming decisions on legitimate topics like this.
Simply trying to educate myself with others knowledge or experiences.
Did you read the link? Just though I would point this out to avoid some possible issues. Usually things like this are best discussed through PM.
No one is selling or promoting the use of this drug. No violation of the rules is present.
It's taboo if not on a prescription.

FYI, I've seen this topic shut down before.
I went off my add meds because they are destructive to muscle tissue. I had a discussion with my doctor and then decided to slowly wean myself off of them.
You'll be fine. I used to take adderall as a pre workout, smart I know!
Your doctor should be monitoring your blood pressure and the same goes for you. 20mg is a small dosing and I would not be concerned that your going to have cardiac problems working out. It is counterproductive to my goals. It can make you impulsive, cause anxiety and paranoia. These can still happen even if you are ADHD. So if you notice these symptoms your dose is too high and you need to consult your doctor to adjust your dosing.
I was prescribed 80mg a day. I never had any cardiac issues. I did lose a ton of weight, I started buying ridiculous shit on a whim and I was highly paranoid. My dosage was too high. I won't ever mess with adderall again, no matter how out of control my ADHD gets.
Don't take a preworkout drink if you take adderall. I imagine some crazy shit could take place (ie Craze).
X2 never takd adderall with pre workout or any caffeine I assume u may not need and is better to stay away from it..
Jesus 80mg sounds like a massive dose. I'm pretty wired on 20. I couldn't imagine almost quadrupling my dose.
I never take it pre-workout. I usually take it at 8am and its suppose to last all day since its XR. Then work out at 4-5pm
That being said, I have heard many stories of muscle loss on this so I'm going to stay away as much as I can, and only take when extremely necessary for school.
Be careful with the Adderall. ITs an amphetamine. It can eat up muscle tissue. I have a friend who is taking it and lost a ton of weight. Fat and muscle. ITs like crack in a pill. Some people do need it to focus but it can cause some damage.
