Time Off

ad

I like to take 2 weeks off, every 6 months or so (depending on cycles and such). No maintenance, cardio, anything. Just time away from the gym. I feel like it motivates me. Yeah you lose some, but I feel like you get it back pretty quickly, gear or not. Plus in my mid age(30), my wrists and shoulders get tired and sore. I really enjoy going back in after 2 weeks, fresh and healed. Ready to get after it.

Anyone else into that? Thoughts?

Constant overload from the weight training is a killer on the nervous system, I always take 5 days of every 8 weeks, five days doesn't seem like much but I'm at the gym 4 days a week some times 5 religiously. I haven't been out if the gym any more than five days in the last two years, I just love hammering them weights. Keep telling myself ill take a few weeks off when I go on holidays, but I always manage to find a gym somewhere no matter what part of the world I'm in.

About every 3 months or so I take a full 7 days off. It really does wonders for my joints. My elbows and wrist love me for it. I continue to eat like I should will still do the cardio. Once I go back my strength is still there. I feel a little flat but after a few workouts its like I never stopped. I'm 39 so my joints can't take the constant pounding and need the time off.
