Strained Pec
ad
Hey guys I start off my Monday's with chest and back. I'm a taller guy but bench press is still one of my all time favorites. This week when doing bench felt a feeling in my chest that felt like a pull. Shit ton of pain, no pop, and no loss in strength. Zero pain unless I put weight on it. I know with a pec strain the pec itself has a hard time healing. Just been stretching then heat and ice. An tips on a faster turn around.

nobellabsOf course, let your pec recover. Do not push on it as long as you feel it.. When you feel ready, start pretty light and see how you feels....
When I had injuries like this one, I would take Ibuprofen 3 x a day for the inflammation...
nobellabsI have seen countless of torn pecs and shoulder pain on flat bench press... I personally walked away from it years ago.
I call this machine "the shoulder killer" or the pec murderer.... lol
I had so much discomfort in my shoulders from bench pressing with a straight bar. I now only do Hammer strength and dumbbells.
I was at first concerned to lose some size, but years later, I can honestly say that hammer and dumbbells work as well with less trauma....
Don't stretch it if it's strained.
Warm up a little longer than normal and wait to incorporate stretching after a week or so when the pain subsides.
Then you can do light strengthening, maybe band work or machines for a week.
If it's just a grade 1 strain it should be fairly recovered after 2 weeks.
Ice it after workouts to reduce inflammation and then use heat to promote blood flow.
Pulled my hammy last week, I feel your pain!
I've torn my chest and pulled it before it tore so my best advice is hit chest with push ups n machines n dbs dnt let the ego kick in n try to push it rest and ice will help it give it good time to heal and also stretching it doesn't help at all ull need active warm ups to help it pump up
I did the same thing metal4mosh did. I pulled my chest and kept working with heavy weight until it eventually tore. Fallow his advice on this or you might do the same. It took me six months to recuperate.
No worries about ego here. I will be hitting the pink weights for the next few weeks. Pool truly helped out today. Thanks for reply
6 weeks ago I was doing lateral raises with 3kg dumbells after rotator cuff surgery. They live in a part of my gym I've never been in
Part of this game is injuries that we have to accept.
I had to 1 up you for being smart brother. back off it and let it heal serious injuries are prevented by listening to your body.
