shoulder pain like a mofo
ad
So I can do shoulder press workouts with minimal to no pain (military, behind the neck, dumbbell or barbell). But the moment I do any lateral raises, side raises, front raises. My right should feels like hell. It's got to be the joint or something. Just feels like complete shit. I tried to do them in the beginning of my workout today and only did 5 sets of side raises and I said fuck it and went to presses instead. Anybody know of any good supplements I can take for this? It's only my right shoulder too. Any help would be appreciated thanks

I too could not elevate my shoulder laterally above my head. I tried Cissus Extract Vitamin Shoppe brand ($15) and have noticed significant improvements. Here is an excerpt from
http://www.ehow.com/about_5503390_cissus-quadrangularis-extract.html
Theories suggest that Cissus quadrangularis extract can accelerate recovery rates by influencing the speed at which fractures and tissues heal. According to Cissus.org, the use of Cissus quadrangularis extract for bone fractures was found to reduce the recovery time by more than 55 percent in clinical studies.
I had a similar problem last year. i could press fine and had no loss of strength, but even a 10lb lateral raise was very painful in my left shoulder. I went to a physical therapist and it turned out to be a joint misalignment. He gave me some exercises to do a few times a day and in a matter of a couple weeks the pain was gone. it might be worth coughing up the $150 or so it costs to walk in and get an evaluation. Skip the regular doc tho, they wont know shit and just look for a good physical therapist or even a chiropractor.
thanks for the info bro, yeah right now i dont have any medical insurance. I have a feeling i might have the same thing. oh well, atleast i can do all other lifts with ease.
It's possible that your front and outer deltoids are stronger and over powering your rear deltoids. This will pull the shoulder forward and cause shoulder discomfort. For me,it was excruciating.I couldn't sleep on it and my shoulder would pop when I raised my arm.Stop doing pressing exercises and start working only your rear deltoids. It took a month for me before I could start doing pressing exercises without discomfort. One exercise that works well is to stick your arms out to your sides and do backwards circles until you can't do them anymore.Unless you have torn something, this will work.
thanks for the advice, ill try it out. sucks that the last weeks of my cycle i wont be able to add size anymore. oh well cause my rear delts need the most work anyways. yeah I can sleep on my arm without discomfort.
SD has a great point and I would try that and see how it goes. If that doesn't help, you probably have a tear at an insertion point. I have one where my bicep attaches to my shoulder. I can have problems with incline presses. My orthopedic surgeon basically said that I can live with it and get cortisone shots when it hurts too bad. Last resort would be surgery. Good luck.
Concentrate on your power movements and you will grow.Squats,dead-lifts,bench press(if it doesn't hurt too bad) and back.
