rest between sets?
ad
I watched a phil heath training video today and noticed that he rests only 30 seconds between sets, wtf??!! I think sometimes i may worry too much about going as heavy as possible with the correct rep range rather than training more intensely with shorted rest periods. Is there a right or wrong way to go about timing your rest or is it maybe goal dependant? Right now my goal is fatloss-building/maintaining muscle mass. This fall/winter i'll be back to eating everything in sight and gaining as much mass as possible. Thanks for any input.

30-45sec for cut/vascularity(10-15reps), 1-2min for gain(8-12reps), 3-5min strenght( reps3-5)
This is a great answer here for a general guideline. The rest between sets is fully dependent upon training goals.
certainly! then it depends on many things..recently ,I 've added the FST-7 to my hypertrophy routine .. I just do 5 sets instead of 7 .. I'm having great results
It stands for Fascial Stretch Training and the seven refers to 7 sets performed usually as the final exercise of a target bodypart. Basically you train that bodypart on any given day heavy as you normally would keeping the rep range between 8-12, but the last exercise you perform the seven sets to finish off that particular muscle, with minimal rest in between to get the best pump possible. I always rest about 30 seconds mostly cause imma buisy guy and sincr ive upped the intensity i get much better pump and vascularity has really been showing up.
If its fatloss than train with the least amount of rest. Id rather workout like that than sitting on a treadmill.
No1Thats usually all I rest.. 1 minute max
