How did these guys do it?
ad
HOw did these guys in the 70's hit each bodypart 2-3x a week? Arnold would do Chest/Back/ Legs every other day for 6 days. I do Chest and back Monday with 300mg Test a week and 70mg Anavar and I'm sore as sh&^ till Friday.
Were they just training sore muscles? And its hard to say they weren't giving a huge effort each workout, nor could we say they weren't getting results. I don't get it.

Domz are a part of training a think the pain is allways there i did notice after about 5 month of weight lifting it seemed to be not so bad then at the year mark i liked it.it myt just be me but its not so much of a pain i feel its hard to explain lol it lets me know i am working the muscles propa its good to feel it lets me know i am growing and had a good workout.a think they just grow to love it arnold talks about loving the burn and the post workout pains and feeling like hes acheiven smet.
Once you go over the hour mark on any muscle group you release cortisol ? That sends your body into stress mode which causes your body to turn catabolic and breakdown muscle and can effect you for a day or two after the workout thats what i have read over the years in flex and a few docs.when your on juice tho even if its just test you cnt over train in the sence of its not gna brake your muscles dwn cz it stops the release of stress hormones that cause your muscles to brake down but you could still get a injury a think am on the ryt tracks lol.so no juice wtch you dnt over train.but on juice live at the gym and dnt bova about over training goodtimes.
I do twice a week , sometimes full body every day for a month. i dont believe in overtraining, when you give your body the right fuel!
How do you keep a high appetite?
SwolePatrole7I always train each muscle 2x a week..never sore longer than 48 hours..been training 6 years like that though
BostonI dont care what anybody says, there is more than one way to skin a cat. These guys that say you only should be in the gym 3-4 times a week for an hour tops are wrong. Those guys looked awesome back then and thants without insulin hgh and tren. Obviously what they were doing worked. As long as you are eating enough of the right foods and sleeping enough, fuck it, lift and lift hard.
Okay...check this out and correct me if I am wrong, such as maybe I am misunderstanding you here...BUT what about Mike Mentzer? I'm sure you have heard of his heavy duty training principles...and he was a beast. He might have only been in the gym maybe 2x/wk at times if you followed his 96 hours of rest...so was he, is he wrong????
no he is not wrong. it comes down to finding what works for you. imo HIT is for people that do not recover as fast. I do high volume and get awesome results if I do less than 4 sets per body part I start getting smaller I do get stronger but that's not what I'm looking for. that's why there is so many training methods out there. I'm so tired of people saying that one method is better than another. find what works and stick with it.
EXACTLY!!!! I am tired of hearing the "that is wrong and this is right' shit. We are all different and respond differently to a variance of training techniques and training ideals. It is all goal oriented, and that is something that seems to get lost in translation around here...or so it seems to me.
There's far far to many differences between people for there to ever be a one-size-fits-all training frequency. All you can do is start off with a guideline and then taylor things to suit your own body.
I'm mid 30's and natty right now and it takes anywhere from 5 days up to 2 weeks for me to properly recover and be ready for another go, including both muscles and tendons. If I hit a body part every 7 days regardless of what my body's saying I'd be properly fucked.
Back in my 20's it was totally different, each body part needed around 4-5 days off natty every time and I'd do a 3 or 4 days on 1 day off whilst on cycle.
Okay...so how do you know you are recovered though too? I mean is it that you aren't sore or 'tight' anymore or do you go by how some of your joints feel, so to speak? Cause if that is the case..WITH ANY OF THIS, then I definitely train un-recovered body parts, and most definitely on-cycle, lol.
Sometimes I hit my back as part of my chest routine OR shoulders(like laterals, etc.) and then hit either the shoulders OR back directly a few days later...I love it, it's something I have been experimenting with this cycle. No two workouts are ever the same...and definitely not the same days of the week. I have been getting some really good gains...strength and muscle/recomp wise. Been training ALOT for strength though...in my eyes I am big enough at 235 and BF hovering around 10-11% right now...I still throw in some hypertrophy reps/exercises here and there in every workout...like power-building as opposed to either power-lifting or bodybuilding.
I don't know if he was right, if he was than Arnold and them wouldn't have been in the kind of shape they were. So if we say all depends on the person, not the gear than that means there are guys out there right now following the 3-4 workouts a week trend and would get much better results doing more no? I'm def. not one them though thats for sure.
WelI, check this out...I guess Arnold and alot of the other members of the Golds Gym crew at one time or another DID do the Mentzer Heavy-Duty approach to lifting, however Mike pretty much made this approach of training exclusive day-in/day-out, as far as I understand it. But it was well-revered at the time by all of them, so there is that?
Look...when I'm on gear and with the intensity that I go in the gym and crush it for an hour at TOPS 4X/wk...I can NOT simply workout anymore...I mean, it comes down to what would I do? I don't train small muscles groups on cycle like some douche IMO, there is absolutely no need to do 9 sets of 3 different tri exercises(for example)...to me that is plain retarded. But I guess it depends on your goal too...as when I run a cycle like I am running now(test/deca), I am focusing more on strength..so compound movements is where it's at with maybe a few accessory/isolation exercises.
I think it is more about the quality of a lift than quantity...it's gotten me much farther today than it ever has in the past with training 6 days/wk., sometimes 2-a-day splits. I have put on over 30lbs. of solid mass in a year running none to moderate compounds...and that is weight that I have kept, this is NOT cycle weight that is water and fat...and honestly I really contribute it more to food than training and/or gear. But in summation, when training I keep it simple, I keep it short and I keep it intense...and that to me has turned out to be my solution. Feel free to debate...I'm all ears
i doubt any of them cycled though lol. There pct was probably more juice
yep....if you lifted in the 70's and early 80's, you were DEFINITELY juicing and no one ever came off, they just kept switching to different compounds and/or bridging with a compound or two and then blasting hard again. First hand account from an old head that told me this...so take it or leave it, but you are on gear year round for years and eating like a horse, then yeah..you can train like a madman.
I've always wondered if Arnold even has any boys hangin' between his legs. If he does they would have to be shriveled by now.
Yo bro not sur if you know but his boys are potent. He knocked up his house keeper from 7-8 years ago. Takes a real man to take a woman like that down! Who wants to go hoggin?!
