+ 1 Making your own almond/peanut butter
It seems that every time lately I go to the grocery store and buy the same things, week after week my bill gets more and more expensive. There are some areas i'm willing to sacrifice and buy a cheaper brand but not peanut butter and almond butter. I always look for the natural types with the lowest sodium and I dont want added sugars and oils. The almond butter was recently over 10 dollars a jar. So I decided to make my own. I bought a 12oz bag of natural unsalted almonds for $3.50 threw it in the food processor and let it go to work. I had to stop it and scrap down the sides every 30 seconds or so but in less than 10 minutes I had smooth creamy almond butter. It tastes great and it has 1 ingredient. Almonds. Anyone looking to save some cash or just want to know exactly whats in your peanut butter, give this a try.

ThunderLightinteresting idea, +1, thanks
Anondid you have to add any oil during the process?
No. but I thought I was going to have to. After 5 minutes of grinding and scraping it was still powdery. I just kept at it and eventually it turned out. Its not as creamy as store bought, but its good. Next week i'll try making peanut butter.
I've done this with Peanut butter. Nice post great contribution. +1
