Buy a meat grinder & make ur own sausage. Mine only cost around $200. grind up whatever fits in your diet, toss in some spice and then run it into some casings.. it is awesome.

But Imagine A company from China purchasing such a big brand shows how fast Chinese economy is growing. Keira Lombardo, vice president of investor relations and corporate communications at Smithfield Foods, Inc., confirmed in an interview that the potential sale would also include Smithfield brands: Eckrich, Farmland, Armour, Cook’s, Gwaltney, John Morrell, Kretschmar, Curley’s, Carando, Margherita, Healthy Ones.

While the vast majority of food products that come from China are perfectly safe, pork specifically has been a health issue in China, making it vital for parents to keep a close watch on where their food comes from and who they are trusting with it’s continued safe production.

I actually used to work with Smithfield quite a bit (main supplier of feed ingredients, soy protein etc.) and am a little upset by the Chinese buyout as well. However, I dont see any need to worry about changes like that just yet. Smithfield still has to abide by US regulations as long as they're operating and selling in/to the US. I dont see any radical nutrient changes happening in the near future at all. And any crazy attempt to increase "mystery ingredients" is likely to be short lived.

But in conclusion, I fully support NOT buying Smithfield as we need to support US companies first! And the Chinese are slowly trying to buyout tons of US companies, lets not make it easier for them.
