Food while working

ad

So any of you all work long shifts, 12-24hr? I keep having a hard time staing consistent on my diet as I end up working at least two 24 shifts each week. I try to bring good things to eat like peanut butter, almonds, etc...but it seems like after 10pm I end up eating whatever I find around here no matter what it is. E.g. - just ate an entire bagel about 10 minutes ago and i tried to avoid it for awhile. Just seems like staying up long hours screws with my appetite and my self control. Anyone else get this and any tips on snacks to bring that work for you? Thanks

Outside of meal prep... you could stock up on easy prep stuff that don't need refrigeration or heat:
Sardines or Tuna (trader joe's sardines are quite good)
Almond Butter
Bone Broth (You can get 8oz serving boxes on Amazon - or powder to put in hot water)
Bananas
Pumpkin Seeds
Biltong - or beef jerky
Hard Boiled Eggs
String Cheese
Dark Chocolate - if you need something sweet

Honestly you just have to prep hard, that will save you and get re-freezeable ice packs and a big lunch box/cooler to keep your food in.

Prepping hard is really going to be the key for me. Thanks for the comments bro

A shaker with protein in it, I seen a recipe on protein balls it's worth a look to check it out. Bag them up and jus pop them in throughout the day. From what you said about eating peanut butter it's a recipe with a peanut butter base. I seen this it looks not that bad. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/sclark54.htm Greek yogurts always good put a little granola in there. I actually bought some unflavored multi purpose protein from quest protein. There's a few of recipes that come with it. But me personally I just throw it in whatever it doesn't have any flavor and it works pretty good. Prepping meals is always a given. But beef jerk is an option to. Cheese sticks aren't to bad. I don't necessary know what you're looking to eat. If you got a sweet tooth craving or you're like me and try to just keep it to protein oreintated snacks.

Yea I made some today had a banana base instead of peanut butter, it worked out pretty well, my girl can't have nuts.... So we had to use bananas instead of the peanut butter based ones. It's a good switch to the recipe I think when i make them on my own I'll use both. But yea they're delicious

Those protein peanut butter balls look delicious, I'm def gonna make some of these tonight before my next shift in the am. I try to keep some beef jerky around but the kind I like is really tough and dry, so after awhile my teeth start to hurt. And I def have a sweet tooth, it's what I fight the most with food. I have started snacking on rice cakes w peanut butter, honey, and a few banana slices and that helps slot when I need something sweet. Thanks again for the tips!

Someone recommended for the sweet tooth you can make some sugar free pudding and add protein to it. Or even regular whatever you like. Just thinking of things.

Yea that's what I was thinking. To I was researching a bit more they have the same kind thing with protein bars you can make. Pretty simple. Just more oats. Which for me is great. Carbs and protein while working. If it's an active job what could be more perfect.
