+ 1 Herbal supplements for cycle support/overall health
ad
I have been researching herbal remedies for lipid control and liver/kidney support. I have decided to try a variety of teas and a couple of tinctures composed of several herbal extracts. Including: green tea, black tea, oolong tea, dandelion root, ginger tea. One tincture has milk thistle, artichoke root, licorice root and the other just has chanca piedra. I also use Tudca. Anybody use these herbs, or any other I didn’t mention?

There are some pretty thorough threads on here you can find with the search bar discussing this.
Compounds with a generally high efficacy & low danger profile/side effects are;
turmeric (standardized extract is preferable because bioavailability is low), tudca, nac, milk thistle, glutathione, cayenne pepper, NMN, dandelion, iodine, various mushrooms (reishi, chaga, turkey tail, cordyceps), chanca piedra, ginger, spirulina, chlorella, fresh lemon juice (known to uniquely significantly catalyze liver tissue regrowth), taurine, fresh celery &/or cucumber juce, astragalus, and of course high water intake.
This isn’t an exhaustive list by any means but it’s a good start. As you mentioned, teas are good also. Tinctures can be great, but sourcing them can be challenging. It easy to make them with glycerine, grain alcohol, or even just water, but you need clean fresh herbs/mushrooms to start. Always remember that the supplement market is the single largest AND most counterfeit non-regulated industry in the world. Research your sources for purity, quality/potency & consistency. Companies like DoNotAge, Now and Bulk Supplements tend to stand out, but that’s just my experience.
I'm not sure the tinctures are potent enough. For lipid control I use citrus bergamot, ubiquinol, omega 3, Policosanol (very effective). Liver NAC and Tudca. For kidneys astragalus and for kidneys and overall health I use the supplement from the picture.
What brand policosanol?
I personally take Now Foods Policosanol 20mg or Source Naturals. You also have 40mg and Nutricost 100mg (probably underdosed), but I use 20mg because I use it almost all year round.
I don't mean to be piccy mate, but be careful with these 'All in 1' supplements for kidneys and Liver. Although they look impressive with the amount of things they have in them, the actual amounts can be very low and in many cases not high enough to give the amount of protection that we are after as steroid users. Take for example in this product - the amount of Milk Thistle extract is only 100mg per serving. The amount that is proven to be effective on the Liver is actually 400mg of extract per day, so here you are only getting 25% of that. Cranberry extract is 100mg - compare that to the 12500mg capsules that I take 2 of each day. I know its still better to take it than not take it, but the supplements that are really important such as those 2 I personally think its better buying them individually and making sure you get the optimal dose required. In many cases it works out a lot cheaper too if you know where to buy them from. For example I get most of my health supps from here for reference:
www.peaksupps.co.uk
In my kidney post I researched and listed all the effective compounds and required doses to take each day to get ample protection.
Yessir. Compound supplements are pretty much all trash. They have an impressive number of molecules in them (allegedly) but the quantity is typically well below efficacy.
Something else that is far too common is that many of the advertised compounds in the supplement aren’t even there. Some tests have shown that well over 50% of some supplements available to the general public have between 0% - 20% the quantity of the advertised nutrient.
Lastly, the form the nutrient is offered in may not be optimally bioavailable. Magnesium, zinc, turmeric, potassium, vitamin D & B vitamins are some of the many molecules often offered in an inferior formulation, making it somewhat useless or even potentially harmful.
Better to lock in on a few synergistic compounds from good sources and use those.
Really??!! I never knew that, you always assume with them being products typically bought in a supermarket or health shop that they would contain everything they are supposed to - its almost dangerous that they don't as you are thinking you are taking those things in. I remember when I looked into buying 50mg Zinc tablets that there were many different forms of it, some seeming to be much more efficient than others. I didn't realise that fresh lemon juice is good for the liver either! Hope you are keeping well mate
It’s wild how often the tablet/capsule is vastly different than what’s advertised on many supplements. You can see blinded & unblinded studies where people or companies will take samples of 15-20 of the top brands of a common supplement and the results are shocking, like every fuckin time. Some contain nothing, many contain greatly reduced amounts, some are close and a cherished few come within 5% of what it says. And there are often industrial contaminants and heavy metals. There’s no real testing requirements in the US, and we all know what the international supplement market is all about.
And some
Yes, my friend, you are right, I also never recommend mixtures, because usually the first or maybe the second item in the composition has an ok dose, and everything else is just there as decoration. I look at this supplement as a multivitamin. You drink it for overall health and if you really have for example vitamin B deficiency, you take B-complex with sufficient doses.
Man you weren’t kidding about the Policosanol.

Never heard of it before. But I’ve got a bottle on my way to my house now from good ol Amazon.
Big ups for pointing that one out.
@SeeOhShow
I was doing quite a bit of reading earlier on EAA's and why they taste so fucking bad!!! LMAO
I came across this study which I thought was very interesting about just how great an Anabolic response the body has to them. Every time I take them regularly my training jumps a level as I find the healing from them incredible especially round joints and tendons, they seem to get rid of the niggly pains that can hinder lifts really effectively. Have a read of this buddy compared to normal Whey Protein:

Only reason I stop then using them is because they are just so unenjoyable to drink, even in the Tropical flavour I get. Apparently its to do with the fact each amino acid is bonded to a Nitrogen atom and the resulting Sulfur taste from it.
Yes, it really worked on my "figures". Much better than many more expensive supplements. You just need to know that it acts like statins on the level of coenzyme 10 in the body and it would be preferable to use coenzyme 10 along with Policosanol.
Me either and yeah those numbers had some definite improvement there. But looks like a good herbal blend.
@Jockstrap looks like the Policosanol might be beneficial for you bud.
@press1 nice!! Will dig into that for sure!
