Daily Required Protein Per Pound of Bodyweight

ad

What does everyone tend to stick to in terms of protein per pound of bodyweight to be optimum at building muscle?

Needless to say too much protein is bad for longevity/health.

The body of literature on this topic states 0.82 per lb to be the plateau of no further returns. So even the oft-stated rule of thumb of 1 per lb is MORE than enough as long as you aren't chugging it all down in the span of 2 hours in a day or something ridiculous. Honestly, I find it impossible NOT to meet that protein threshhold given a caloric intake of about 3k, but my meals are pretty balanced.

I think finding your carbs and healthy fats are better at building that muscle so protein 1-1.5 gram per bf

Generally 1 gram per pound or 2 grams per kg minimum. I usually aim for 1.5 grams.

Yep, it’s quite common among old pros & even amateur fitness personalities that abused AAS (ie; blast, blast, cruise, blast, blast, etc.) and never got bloods, checkups or took time off to recover. Cali Muscle be on this list.

So, I follow the advice of Dr. Bill Campbell, he's the head of the performance and physique enhancement lab in USF. Generally 1 gram of protein per pound. Here's an interesting interview with him about fat loss/protein requirements
