+ 14 Time for a reality check

ad

Before I start, if you think this post is directed at you, it probably is. But not just you, you're just one of a number that need a reality check. Not to keep me or anyone else on side, but for your own good. So before you take it like a personal attack, digest it properly.

The world of steroids has changed dramatically from when I was younger. The internet being the biggest part of that change. Anyone who has a trivial amount of cash can order gear, get it delivered to their home and start pinning it without leaving the comfort of their living room. That was different in my day, you had to be deemed "worthy" by the gym dealer when I was younger. Let me give you an example of what I mean from my early twenties. I was 6-1, around 210-220lbs I'd guess at that stage, BF pretty low, 10-12% I'd say. I was in good shape. Around 23 years old I asked the gym dealer, (an ex Russian powerlifting champion) about buying gear. It went something along these lines:

Cat - "So can I buy some gear from you"
Dealer - "Can you bench 3 plates a side?"
Cat - "No. 2 and a half (120kgs) for reps" (I thought that was impressive at the time).
Dealer - "Then fk off until you can"

At the time my thoughts were "what an arsehole". But guess what he was trying to tell me? Build a better base. I didn't like it, but if I'm honest that conversation probably made me bigger now in nearly 20 years on. Why do I think that?ecause to be "worthy" in his eyes I had to get stronger. To get stronger I had to get bigger. My "natural" frame that was supported by nothing more than hard training and huge amounts of decent quality food became 230ish. Nowadays I believe that enables me to hold onto a much bigger frame than I could have done had I started gear earlier. I've had multiple surgeries, chemotherapy and yet still never dropped back below about 240. I thank that guy, "the arsehole", for telling me to fk off.

So what's the point here? Almost everything I read in terms of cycles these days is guys that have developed very little natural base and it's taken them several cycles to reach what I'd still call a small frame. If it takes you multiple cycles to be 6ft and 180lbs, wakes wakey time, you're getting it wrong. Add more steroids, you're still getting it wrong and you're avoiding the real issue. Until you realise there's something you're doing wrong, (and it isn't because you're a hard gainer or because you like to lean bulk), you're going to end up stuck in the same cycle, still without the size you're apparently so desperate to achieve.

I know it's frustrating for the new guys that here this message or get comments like "don't need steroids you need food", I understand that. I've been there and I got pissed off too. This is about being truthful with yourself, assess what you've achieved, does it stack up? If it doesn't, it's very rarely down to your steroid use. Because it's so easy to buy gear doesn't mean you should start using it when you've been training for 5 minutes, or at least that's how I see it. I've seen the phrases"steroid junkie" being used a lot recently and I'm starting to think that's what the easy accessibility perpetuates.

Is that you? A steroid junkie? Time for a reality check. You're only kidding yourself.......

Well said Cat... Im starting to think we have a lot of members here who suffer from cibophobia...

I have a fear of the opposite, there being no food.

how true this is.... people are always looking for the short cut instead of putting in the hard work and dedication. this is mostly why I steer clear of the cycle logs anymore its filled with idiots looking for a cosigner. and the lean bulk or bulk and cut cycle wakes me want to throw a small car in the parking lot .. rubbish..... great post +2
