+ 1 Blood Donation

ad

Quick question on blood donation. I want to donate blood but there are different types of blood donation at the place I'm going to.

-Whole blood donation
-Apheresis donation
-Double red cell (ALYX) donation
-Medical donations

Does it matter which one I pick? This is the first time I have ever donated, so I'm kinda unsure how to go about it. How about the questions I'll be asked. I'm clean and disease free, just on cycle. Will any of it show?
Because I ain't saying nothing if I'm asked. How do you guy's go about it?

I always just do whole blood, very simple. Every 8 weeks when on cycle. Keeps my blood pressure in check and RBC count on point.

Just got back from donating. Very simple process. They took about a pint of blood. I donated whole blood like recommended. The paper I received said they would check the blood for diseases and if they found anything they would notify me, but the paper said nothing about checking for gear so I should be fine.
Thanks guy's once again.

Make sure your blood pressure is in an acceptable range. If you have a way to take your BP, then get a baseline. Parameters are different with different places, but 160 mmHg systolic and 90 mmHg diastolic are the upper limits, which could delay your donation. Let us know what's up!! Smile

you want a whole blood donation, but they'll have a program set up for first timers. Do not answer yes to the steroid related questions and you'll be fine.

If you say no to steroid use will they check and bust you later on like next time you come in I want to donate blood just to try and help out and how much do they end up taking sorry for the newb question I have a friend just pull my blood for me when I want he a phlebotomist i just go into his work and it's free but if I can not get in trouble I'd rather have it help other people out

Nope they don't check your test level or anything like that. They only check for disease and things of such nature.

They take about 600 cc and it's stripped of everything...
