Low libido (a pretty unusual case...)
Wasn't sure where to post this, but I guess this is probably the most applicable forum.
Let me start this off by saying when my issue started, I had never run a cycle, so although this is not steroid related, I'm hoping some of the PCT gurus can point me in the right direction.
A few months back we had a competition at work to see who could lose the most weight in 6 weeks, all proceeds going to charity. At the time I was planning a first cycle to start a month or so after the competition ended, so I thought what a great motivation to help lose some fat before starting my cycle. I put my name down for the competition planning on cutting my calories by 500 a day and upping the sprint training and focusing more on strength in the gym.
However, before the competition got under way, the competitive bunch we are decided to place a few bets on who could lose the most weight. Determined to win some money on the side and more importantly, beat all my friends, my realistic reduction of 500 calories from maintenance turned into a 1600 calorie a day diet (1800 when sprint training) for 6 weeks.
The results - were pretty impressive. The first week I shed 3 lbs, the next week 2.5, the next week 2, the next week 2. The high intensity sprints and weights were just about hanging onto my strength (managed to maintain all lifting weights except shoulder press). In addition I was leading the competition by a nose, was feeling fitter than I had done in a while and wasn't feeling any negative side effects (apart from being constantly hungry - painful at times). By the 4th week the hunger had even subsided as I got used to the tiny amounts of food I was eating.
The problems, however, started near the end of the 5th week. I generally consider myself a pretty horny guy, and my girlfriend would say insatiable (or "sex pest"). Sitting at my computer when my girlfriend was out of town, I stared at the screen thinking what to look at on the internet. When my mind came to porn, I thought, "nah, don't fancy that today". Now that in itself was a little odd for me, but then I thought about the fact that I hadn't had sex in a week - or had not even thought about sex for a week, I did think that was pretty strange. I flicked on some porn and found, to my dismay, that the usual rock hard erection was nowhere to be seen - another minute or so was required for me to achieve anything at all.
My worst fears were confirmed when the next day in the shower I was completely unable to gain an erection. No matter what I thought about (and my mind went to some pretty wrong places in an attempt to make something happen) it just would not come up. How could this be? I'd never taken steroids so how could I be shutdown? Oh well, I knew that I was planning about 5 weeks after the end of the competition, so just stick it out till the end then try and deal with it in the meantime.
I finished the diet (12.5lbs lost, winning with 7.0% lost to the runner ups 6.3%) and decided the best way to get me back going would be to run my PCT meds immediately, and buy replacements for my future cycle (hoping to reverse the effects of the diet on my hormones). I took the standard PCT of nolva and clomid for 4 weeks - things improved a little - I can gain pretty strong erections although it takes a little longer to get there sometimes. What still didn't change is my complete lack of libido. I still wasn't thinking about sex - even when my girlfriend was lying on the bed naked right next to me (and she's pretty damned hot).
I decided to go ahead with my cycle, perhaps foolishly, thinking that having loads of test in my system would tell me whether or not low test was in fact the problem. I decided at the last second to have a blood test before my cycle, and to my shock, the results came back (about 5 mins after I took my second injection) as test at 675 ng/dL and estradiol at 24 pg/mL. So low testosterone or high/low estrogen weren't my problem?
I read round the forums for anyone else having similar problems and noticed that "deca dick" can be caused by too much prolactin - in addition, I had noticed a change in my nipples (my girlfriend said "you used to have tiny nipples - now you have normal sized nipples" when I asked her about it). I ordered some caber pronto and started taking it at 0.5mg twice a week, which seems to be the prescribed protocol around here for controlling prolactin. (I was getting desperate)
Now is where we are at:
Its 2 weeks into my first cycle of Test-E, 500mgs. I have been taking Caber at 0.5mg twice a week for 2 weeks. I have seen NO improvement in libido whatsoever, although erections can be attained with some effort. This has been the case since the final week of my crazy diet.
Other information that may be of help - I'm taking 12.5mg of aromasin every day with the test-E (the nipple enlargement worried me so I wanted to be safe).
What's my next move. Ideally I think going to the doctor would be number 1, however now that I'm on test-E (see, foolish) I would rather they didn't know that and have it on my records. My testosterone appears to have been fine, as was my estro. The 2 weeks of Test-E has confirmed that low test wasn't the issue as I must be swimming in it by now. Is prolactin the likely cause? My nipples were enlarged, I lost my libido - both side effects of this. I've already taken caber for 2 weeks. Do I persist on 0.5mg twice a week for a few more weeks. Do I bump it up to 1mg twice a week?
Any advice would be appreciated, cheers fellas. I can't believe I did all the research into how to avoid the problems associated with steroid use and the thing that buggers me is an ill-advised diet to beat my mates!

there was a few reasons I thought it may be prolactin related. Firstly it was the silly diet I ran for the competition at work that did it, which, as has been pointed out in the posts below, puts your body under a LOT of stress - something which after 5 weeks I guess it couldn't cope with anymore. One of the causes of hyperprolactinaemia (excess prolactin) is stress, hence it appeared on my radar. I did think it could have potentially been an estro problem or a test problem, but I ran the nolva/clomid pct protocol after the diet which would have caused both to increase, and as per the blood test results in the post, meaning I had normal T and E levels. Also I didn't think it was estrogen related because on the one hand I had libido problems, something that can be caused by low E - but I also had (confirmed by my girlfriend) enlarged nipples (pretty puffy) which would have been a side effect of high E? Those two conflicting issues combined with my normal reading for E in the blood test led me to believe it must be something else causing it. In addition to the fact that stress can cause prolactin to rise, I also had the nipple problem, again a side associated with raised prolactin. This is why I figured it could be prolactin related and got hold of some caber.
i think you are overthinking this like fast said....i believe hyperprolactinaemia would be brought on by an underlying condition and most likely not due to exercise stress...if this were the case i would think that most marathon runners would suffer from it. you should start by simplifying things...i would be willing to bet that your e2 is near zero. cut your ai for a couple of weeks, that should give enough time for your levels to return. after that assess how you feel. if that doesnt work have your bloods run again, cbc + hormone levels. if nothing shows then the problem might be created in your head. im week 5 into my first cycle and had a couple of strange thoughts my first couple of weeks
true on the marathon runners, although I think it would have been the severe lack of calories rather than the exercise bit that was causing the stress. Will cut the AI out for two weeks and reassess then. Still worried that although I'm on the AI now for the cycle, I was having the libido issues way before the AI, even when my E2 numbers came back fine. Hope it is estro related rather than an underlying problem! Cheers for you help mate!
the cause could be twofold, i know from experience libido is decreased with sever calorie deficient diets...so you could have had one problem going on there. so when you hit your test cycle and a ton more food( i hope) you would have normally bounced right out of that but since you starting taking your ai before any excess test has aromatized probably killed your e2 thus causing the reduced libido again....i hope this helps! just pump your brakes and breath a bit, you'll be fine. also ease back into your aromasin, go eod unless gyno symptoms arise
ok cool. My own worst enemy from the sounds of things haha! Will do to the above. Cheers!
good luck harry... keep us updated... I will have to let some of the experts help you!!!!
thanks! fingers crossed haha!
If you started your ai so early on a test e cycle you could have killed your estrogen...would result in sides including low libido and lethargy. Also y caber?
Definitely agree on the AI. Either get bloods and see where you sit or cut it out for an entire week, then reasses
yeah maybe that I'm causing an additional problem by running that dose too early. Cheers mate, think I will drop the aromasin for a week.
youre overthinking. caber is for deca and prolactin. 2 weeks in and youre already hitting aromasin. Probably LOW ESTRO. Low estro kills sex drive. No aromasin or caber. Use the aromasin in bout week 4 as high estro signs pop up. Stress got you messed up bro. Whats your pct? And youd better be on high protein clean diet or youre not gonna grow and be really pissed off. Poor planning....poor research...reach out more often and chillax bro!
yeah I thought I may be overthinking, knew it was time to get some help! I outlined in a post a few above this why I thought it might be prolactin, see what you make of my reasoning. and yes, definitely stress!
diet is high protein and clean. Given up alcohol and chocolate for the duration (the lack of chocolate is killing me!) and even ordered a blender for those crazy whey, oats and berry super shakes in the morning! pct is nolva 40/40/20/20 and clomid 100/100/50/50.
and cheers for your help!
I remember my first cycle. No help. Noone to ask. Hella stressed wondering when I'd get roid rage. Lol! This place is all help...all the time.
yeah, this site is pretty amazing - don't think I would have had the guts to post the above anywhere else to be honest!
Once again you are faster...fn iPad keyboard
Names Fast. Fast Eastwood. You feel lucky....punk. Lmao!!!!! Teach this guy bro. He's just stressin
stress isnt good, raises cortisol levels=hold on to fat
