Battling back pumps on dbol

ad

Anyone have any advice on countering the lower back pumps when on dbol? I've researched quite a bit on this, but no emperical data seems available... Thoughts on potassium/calcium supps?

First cycle: dbol 40mg ED, test e 600mg\week. Adex on hand.
3 weeks in.
Supps : ZMA, milk thistle, citruline malate, bcaas, protein/casein blend.
Nutrition: 4000 cal/day macros 35/40/25 carb/pro/fat. (Thanks makawa!)

Stats : 5'11" 195lbs 11.2% bf.
Water: 4-6 qts water a day.
5 day gym splits 1 day hard cardio (indoor soccer)

Feeling great other than those damn pumps... I feel like 49mgs is a acceptable dose for a newb like me, I've only got a week left of the dbol, and I can certainly put up with the weakness leaving the body (bring it!), haha, just curious if anyone's got any input..

Thanks again! Lovin' eroids! This community rocks!

Completely agree with @Viking EVOLUTION and @Makwa. Just hold off on the dbol. Search up 'first cycle test only' and you'll see 99% of them say they got unreal results from just test. So don't worry about not Getting good gains. But my .02 cent on the back pumps, I would agree with everyone and say taurine and hydration are most important aspects for prevention, but also stretching your hamstrings and glutes very hard. Remember all your muscles run on a chain of connections and being tight in your hammies, glutes, hips and even quads will cause tightness throughout your lower back

Best way to counter these pumps is drop the dbol. Like the brothers have all said you shouldn't be running it for s first cycle anyway. Now when you do add a compound and it causes back pumps I have come to learn the best way to go is get a renal panel and full electrolytes run. For me the answer has almost aways been there. Sometimes (in fact quite often) the solution will still be to drop the compound. Some orals have a weird way of messing with my electolytes something awful that no amount of supplementing and/or altering water intake will fix. That's just my experience.

Taurine, up your water and take electrolytes and vitamin c start AI

+3 for Taurine......... thats what i always turned to when experiencing back pumps, and im talking back pumps that felt like a fkn grizzly bear crushing my lungs.

Dacky's picture

Last time I ran SD as a kicker I got these crazy bad. Like there were tears running out of my eyes after squats and deads. Taurine had always worked for me but wouldn't touch these. Eventually pulled bloods. Turned out my sodium levels were super low. Addeda couple of tablespoons of salt back into my diet and they were gone. Now I'm very aware of my electrolytes on cycle. Always check en and adjust with diet, food and supplements.

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

true bro............ i have to keep a serious eye on sodium because i have OCD about salt intake, refined salt makes me heave..... Sea salt im ok with.

win3200's picture

Ever try pink Himalayan salt. I use it in my food and it's better than sea salt.

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

It is you are right bro................ the Mrs also buys smoked sea salt from Cyprus and that is absolutely superb................. that good its addictive lol

win3200's picture

going to have to try that.

Makwa's picture

Hiawiian lava salt is also some good stuff. I also like that it is black so that you can actually see how much you are using. I like to rotate from Sherpa, red alaea, French grey, black lava depending upon my mood and then of course the various smoked sea salts that go on my steaks. They all have their different micronutrients in them that are lacking in a lot of diets.

win3200's picture

never heard of the hiawiian lava salt sounds good and being able to see the amount you are putting on is a plus.

Dacky's picture

I've got some black Icelandic lava salt that is so awesome. Himalayan sea salt too. Always use lots of herbs and spices when cooking to keep it interesting.

lots of people think we eat bland food..................... how wrong can they be bro when all it takes is a little imagination in the kitchen........... if bodybuilding diets had to be bland and boring i would have given this game up 30yrs ago.

win3200's picture

No shit brother at work the lady that runs the cafeteria is always asking what I'm eating because it smells so good when I reheat it. Last time I gave her some of the chicken tacos I made in my crock pot, she couldn't believe that it wasn't loaded with a bunch of shit. I make my own taco seasoning added red, green and yellow peppers and some garlic, it was fucking amazing.

Do you take it just preworkout or throughout the day. I get a gram or more into me PWO and it makes me nauseus for some reason. Wondering if better to just sip a few grams of it throughout the day with my BCAA's and see if that works?

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

i used it pre and post W/out....... and sometimes mixed in my water bottle during training.... 6 grams was the ticket for me (per litre)

Wondering if better to just sip a few grams of it throughout the day with my BCAA's and see if that works?

That sounds very plausible.......... try it bro let me know how it works out Smile

Its good for getting a good nights sleep too..... its works with the Neuro pathways and knocks me right out.

I am going to have to do it that way. I have tried downing 3g prewo several times and it makes me sick everytime to where I can't even lift. 1g at a time seems to be my limit. I'll try 1g pre, 1g intra, and 1 post and sip on the other 3g throughout the day and see how that goes.

x2^^
Not needed for first cycle. It is also really nice to run a test only cycle to get a feel on how the test affects you as you progress through the weeks. You are already 3wks in so you probably aren't going to get much more out of it so I would just drop it anyway.

Once an oral starts giving me back pumps I personally am pretty much screwed as far as getting rid of them. Taurine, hydration, whatever, nothing seems to get rid of them so I am stuck with them and I just have to realize I am not going to be able to do certain exercises because of it. The only exercise that the pumps really limit me with is straight leg deadlifts though.

TheRealMorris's picture

I'll cut the dbol for this last week.. Straight legged deadlifts were the worst on Tuesday, sprints yesterday were almost as bad.. Thanks makawa!

I respect what you're saying rusty... Evidence behind why? I feel like I've responded very well to it, just getting gnarley pumps... Do 17aas get easier for your body/liver to tolerate as you become accustomed to the effects of aas? I haven't come across any emperical or anecdotal evidence for this to be true... Although I AM here to learn, so any input on this would be appreciated.

- K A P S I Z E -'s picture

the evidence, and why we would recommend you waiting on using dbol is because its your first cycle. rule of thumb is one new compound per cycle, IF you are adding something new. reason being, if you get sides youll be able to pinpoint which compound is causing them. in this instance, dbol is causing the sides before the test has really built up enough to show sides but im sure you can see what we're saying.

and, no i dont believe your body or liver becomes accustomed to the effects. aside from your receptors being able to uptake more over time, which is dose dependent, you might be more mentally prepared but physiologically the drug is the same drug and will act upon your body the same. i can say, reducing your bf% will better help in your bodies response to hormones. and indirectly help with sides, less water from lower estrogen and aromatase leads to less BP increase and less water retention, normally.

as far as your original conundrum goes, i agree with rusty you should have ran test only but we're past that now, i agree with beltabuser, taurine is great for muscle cramps and bad pumps. increase water intake to stay more hydrated. increase consumption of electrolytes. and decrease sodium intake if you can, best thing i could recommend.

Good info.

Super legit Kap...very well put! As I said I'm new to running a cycle.. All the reading in the world doesn't compare to the help you guys give on here... If I could petition a Mod to give points for this I would..

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

I will give him +3 on your behalf............. he gave you some top input there bro.
