Hey guys I'm currently in nursing School and just wanted to let u know that they have changed protocol for muscular injections. It's no longer considered mandatory to aspirate before injecting. We no longer aspirate for any IM injections and I doubt test is anymore special. Thought I would share and make life a little easier. Happy pinning. If I'm wrong and test stands alone in this aspect please let me know thanks.

I think I will stay with aspirating. More than once have I found a significant vessel and I doubt it would have liked a direct injection of any compound. Just my opinion on the matter. I just confirmed with a LVN that they still aspirate at her hospital. Thanks for sharing though.
56tooI never aspirate in my delts, tris, ventro or glutes only because I find it too hard to do so, but I always do when doing quads

yeah I think you have to remember usually if you are administering an im injection and you hit a vessel youll see a little blood in the tip of the pin esp with thinner pharma injectables but with thick compounds sometimes you hit a vein and because of the density of the oil the blood wont just free flow into the needle...and in a lot of countries its not mandatory to use alcohol before giving an injection heck in cuba they don't wash their hands between patients but just because its not mandatory doesn't mean its not a good practice...but that just me I only have 10k+ injects under my belt...what do I know
I also think it depends on whether youre a medical professional right like 9 times out of ten I can tell im going to hit a vein or did w/o checking...but I also know the lower risk spots to inject....because I hear people say all the time jet injectors don't aspirate...true but they also are usually used on low risk areas so is it necessary for medical professionals to aspirate that's up to you but for the average person I couldn't in good faith say its not needed
i will always aspirate regardless is it is mandated. I'm going for ems and we aspirate
