Looking for Progression tips

ad

Hi guys!

Long time member pretty much new to the forum.

Ex professional boxer at middleweight, had a small attempt at bodybuilding (won class 3 times at ifbb pro qualifier but never got the over all) Classic Physique.
Kind of lost my fire after that and also wanted to reduce the PED just due to looking at future health.

Started to look towards a powerlifting comp as always been relatively strong.
Currently:
210kg Squat for 2 (correct depth)
160kg bench for a single
230kg deadlift for a single

Sitting at 88kg

No strength program, general hypertrophy work.

Do you guys think this could be competitive in a comp?

Any training advice would be appreciated

Many thanks

Powerlifting is not about strength, its about power. You need to find out your burst strength. The point of powerlifting is honestly how fast you can complete the lift.

If you do the basic 5X5's for a month and then test your burst strength, you will know if you can be competitive.

Check out this article. I know it includes cardio but it will help you. My coach put me on something very similar when I competed and it sucked, but it was effective at helping me break some plateaus and get faster/stronger.

From what you've told me, you're in great shape. I'm guessing he might be a little light for the competition. You might need reinforcements.

There’s no too much online about categories but from another comment there must be a 83kg class and possibly a 93kg

If you need to be 93 pounds, then you need to be. I hope you get what you want and succeed.

You'd have to drop down to the 83kg class first, then maybe in a local meet they may be. Ideally I'd say you need to be adding 20kg to all those figures to be sure.

Appreciate that.
I’d like to think I could possibly get around that mark if I really drilled down on those lifts.
Technically I will just be ok, I’m sure there is lots of improvement possible there

Kind of sounds like you’re asking what your potential is? Only one way to find out.

Yes kind of, if anyone knows what lifts would be a competitive amount?

Also any advice on restructuring for powerlifting
