First Cycle Program - Feedback Requested

ad

First cycle here and I started out of shape.

Looking for feedback and I did search the forums before posting...

This is what I've been doing and I've seen pretty massive gains so far, gained nearly 20lbs overall, mostly muscle - in only three weeks.

Cycle: Currently on Week 3 of 500mL test E/week and 50mg Var/day
Nutrition: Minimum of 1g Protein/LB/day + supplements and overall healthy eating

Training:
5-6 days a week and generally the same workout every day
Arms, Chest, Back, Core: 2-3 different exercises, 4 sets each, 8-10 reps
For example, I'll do curls, bench, lat pulldown then core and then cycle the same muscle groups again (or similar) with a different workout or machine
I always finish with the Stairmaster to work my legs and get some cardio

If any of you veterans has advice for this newb, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

5 to 6 training par week for a beginner is a LOT.
4 is ideal even for advanced (like me).
1g per lbs of LEAN muscle is plenty. Make sure to get enough carbs/fats to spare those proteins.
I don't see legs training ? Squats, press, lunges...
I would split in 2 different workout and get cardio done on rest days first thing is the morning.
More efficient, better recovery and better fat loss.
Just my 2 cents.

Thanks DMX!

Update:
I found a trainer that is helping me with a 3-4 days training schedule rather than 5-6 and I'll look at doing some cardio on rest days.
I added legs (squats, press, etc..) rather than just stairmaster for legs/cardio as I was doing previously
I'm doing my best on protein, averaging about 1.5g/day now. I figured I'd split the difference between you and Makwa...it's hard to get that much food in me per day lol, in fact I threw up the other night I at so much.
I'll get some pics up before too long...quite frankly the results are pretty dramatic so far, although I'm keeping it in perspective that much can be glycogen and water...but it feels and looks like a good increase in muscle so far.

Thanks all!

You really have to listen to your "guts" on this one. If you throw up, you eat too much, a food which doesn't agree with you or problem with timing or ratios carbs/protein/ fats.
Digestion should be a priority. It's in fact very simple. Eat exactly the same thing every day at the same time. Once appetite and digestion is on point you will always want to eat when it's time to.

Excellent suggestion and I will implement. My trainer is helping me put together a nutrition schedule and I'm going to follow your advice and try to eat the same things at the same times each day. Fortunately I'm early in on the cycle and I'm so thankful for the help everyone has provided me. I'm a sponge, absorbing everything I can from the experts and trying to do this right. There's an old saying that a smart man learns from his own experiences/mistakes, and a wise man learns from those made by others. I'm trying to be wise... Thanks again DMX and all!

nice cycle good luck

Sorry to bust your bubble but all of that weight is just glycogen loading and water, not muscle. You will lose all of that when cycle is finished.
Need to eat over your TDEE and need to bump that protein up to 2g/lb if you want to start packing on any real muscle.

Thanks for the feedback. I read your article, it's on point.

With regards to my workouts, for a newb are they decent enough to build some real muscle?

Thanks again!

You build muscle in the kitchen not the gym. Any type of workout in the gym for a newb will stimulate the muscle building process but it won't come to fruition unless you eat right. Can't build something from nothing. You need the protein which is the building blocks to repair and build the muscle.

He is saying you cant build muscle without getting your protein numbers right. If you have time post a picture remmember to cover your face and these guys should be able to change your physique for the better

Thank you both, I will heed that advice. I already started today by upping my breakfast protein load. Shooting for 2g/lb.

Thanks again!
