Cholesterol/TRT
ad
I am new at trying TRT. I have had elevated cholesterol levels which can be hereditary in the past but never really high. I recently had lab tests done and my cholesterol is through the roof. The lab told me to go see a physician. I am currently on my first TRT cycle ever 400mg a week and its been about a month and a half. Has anyone had TRT make their cholesterol level increase? I really don't want a doctor to know I am trying TRT.

News flash, that's not TRT. Get a blood test for your T levels and tell me they're within normal range. And you wonder why your cholesterol is high? What's your BP and RBC?
I'm tired of even addressing the 500mg trt crap lol. But hey if he didn't know then he didn't know, so I get it.
BP today is 118/72 which is good, my RBC is 5.65 in the normal range but my HCT is 52 and Hemoglobin 17.9 and those for sure are from T as they have always been normal. The lab has yet to give me my T levels on cycle so I hope they are high.
You mean you really don't want your Doctor to know you're on cycle. You've been on cycle for a month and a half
Are you on legit TRT and decided to bump up dose and do a cycle? Kind of confused here.
This kind of confusion has become too common recently lol
400mg isn't TRT and of couse at 400mg it will and should raise your cholesterol. TRT is simply replacing the bodies natural level of testosterone at its normal amounts, putting you in range. 400mg isn't normal.
Just going to get worse as you age. Time to get on a statin from your doc. Bad cholesterol is a slow killer and with a history of elevated levels you are just an accident waiting to happen
Give us what your panel says. LDL and HDL have become taboo as of late when dictating overall health.
My LDL is 188 and HDL is 30, cholesterol total is 256 with a ratio of 8.5. I do not have my testosterone levels yet on cycle as the lab says it takes a few days. My HCT is 52 and Hemoglobin 18 so I know those are from the T because they were normal before.
EVERYONE, chill I get it now I said TRT, I meant cycle I used the wrong word. I am on self prescribed TRT
That’s not TRT. Are you trolling? Or do you really want help.
What do you mean that is not TRT? I am taking a multi ester of 400mg a week. I am just asking if its possible TRT can make your cholesterol go up or if anyone has had that experience. I am not here to troll or anything I actually may need to go get on a statin.
TRT would be about 125 mg test a week give or take . You are at 3x that dose. Your best bet would be to go to a doctor and get on trt at the level he prescribes which will be close to what I wrote and then see how your body reacts to that dose through your feeling and blood work. Do that for like a year and see what kind of results you get out of it. Then maybe try a blast and again see how your body responds. If you don't want your doctor to know what you're doing then you'll have to go out and get your own blood work which you can get relatively cheap depending on your finances. The only problem is when you go back to get tested at the doctor you'll have to lay off a bit so your levels come back to normal when he draws his blood. Probably like a week and a half depending on how much test you're using to get your level right some people more time some people less.
I mean 400mg a week, is not TRT, for 99.9% of the population. That is a significantly elevated dose for most. So you don’t mean TRT. You mean cycle.
Lots of studies on testosterone. It does not begin to effect lipids until you hit 600mg per week and even then may only decrease HDL by 10-15% in some. Very well tolerated. Aromatase inhibitors WILL typically affect cholesterol in a negative way.
If you’re not on an AI, even with your elevated “TRT”, the cholesterol is most likely genetic. Not many people can get it down with diet alone. HIIT training has been shown to help cholesterol levels significantly across adult populations. Healthy and unhealthy. 220 minus your age gets you your heart rate max. 95% of HRmax for 60 sec alternated by 75% HRmax for 20 min intervals 3-4 days a week could help. Try it. Statins do typically work well, at least at lower doses, but there is a risk of insulin resistance long term while on them.
Cholesterol affected at 600mg? I figured a bit lower than that. I remember seeing a few studies. Then it also has to do with hereditary issues too. But good point. And yeah TRT isn't even close to 400mg.
Yeah it was the 20 week study by Bhasin I believe that looked at 75mg 125mg 300mg and 600mg.
Cholesterol is genetic a majority of that I’ve seen in the office. Rarely does diet make a big difference unless they have NAFLD
Ok I might have seen that same study. And yea high cholesterol levels are more due to hereditary issues than diet. Lol now that doesn't justify folks to eat like pigs and constantly down bad fats and cholesterol. They'll be asking for trouble.
@Ghost
I appreciate the feedback. Yes that is what I mean I am on a cycle. I do take 1 mg total a week of Anastrozole .5mg twice a week .I am thinking its just genetic because even before I even touched Test I had elevated levels and I was able to keep it down somewhat but this lab test i just done showed it is through the roof. I also had elevated levels of hematocrit and hemoglobin and my ferritin was high but those can be solved by donating some blood. I will also try your exercise recommendation and see if it helps I have to get it under control. I just do not want to tell my doctor I am doing Test.
Why not? We don’t know what we don’t know. How can them to properly advise them if you don’t give him the whole picture?
