Peptides are short polymers formed from the linking of <100 amino acids. They comprise some of the most basic components of human biological processes, including enzymes and hormones. In contrast, "proteins" are longer chains of >100 amino acids. They play a critical role in biochemical reactions within cells. Proteins are ubiquitous in cellular chemistry and structure and are crucial for carrying out most biological functions of living organisms. To be brief, peptide chains are short and proteins are long. In addition, peptides typically offer low toxicity and high specificity, while protein show high bioreactivity, specificity and safety.

Peptides (from the Greek πεπτίδια, "small digestibles") are short polymers formed from the linking, in a defined order, of α-amino acids. The link between one amino acid residue and the next is called an amide bond is a peptide bond.
I thought Peptides were 'just' amino acids....?
