TRT

ad

Hello everyone, I hope all is well. I have a burning question for the folks out there. I have been on self-TRT for sometime. I was on prescribed TRT but the monthly cost was unreasonable after several months. So, I ended up going the self-TRT route. However, I'm getting sick and tired of it. I'd like to get back to prescribed and monitored TRT. I've seen some places with more reasonable prices and better plans (from the looks of it). My question is: should I be honest with them and explain my self-TRT decision? Or, should I just go a couple of weeks with no injection prior to my first appointment? Thank you!!

It really depends on your health in my opinion. You’ve already been on and then you did your own deal. If you were on about the same dose as before and you’re healthy, I don’t see a reason why you need to disclose that you went it in your own. Again, this is predicated on you telling us the whole story. (Kind of ironic).
It also depends on your doc. Some are great and helpful and some are super judgmental and jerks. I’ve had both and the good ones will Work with you and you should be honest, but it’s up to you.

Thank you for the responses everyone. I just want to ensure I do this the right way moving forward.

Hello Sir,

From your health point of view your doctor must know about the hormones and amounts you were administrating on your own for him to guide further. Doctor will obviously send you for a blood work to see the current hormone levels. However the dosage the doctor is going to prescribe you will depend on the amount of hormones you took before.
Hope this helps Sir.

Regards

Could it effect your insurance that you've been self medicating?

I can't see any reason for or against telling them so it comes down to what you want.

Then again I live in England and have no clue how it works over the pond

Bearded_muscle's picture

Rather, how it doesn’t work.

GrowMore's picture

Here in the uk it's litterlly impossible to get onto TRT.

Dacky's picture

No it’s not. Its hard but if you medically need it (as I do) then it will be supported by the NHS. I did go private first and had the private endocrinologist write to my NHS GP who now prescribe and do my bloodwork.

From what I gather you need the test levels of a 9 year old girl and even then it's a ridiculous rollercoaster. If your levels are slightly higher than that unfortunately it's called as within normal level.

What were you original levels if you don't mind me asking?

I tested at 12nmol/l first with low LH/FSH and low free Test. This was at the GP. Referred me to a private endocrinologist and restarted at 8nmol/l with no LH and low FSH and very low free test. Very symptomatic for 8 months. It has been a nightmare. Now on trt with HCG to try and maintain fertility.

Glad you got sorted mate, I plan to go the legit route eventually.

A year ago you posted bloods which were around 22nmol/L mark, what happened?

Dacky's picture

Yeah I ran a cycle. Did my usual PCT. Recovered well. Bloodwork was good and felt good. A couple of months past and that all started to change. Low T symptoms. Lethargy, moodiness, weight gain around my belly, complete loss of libido. Went to see the GP and he agreee to test and there you have it. Tried clomid mono therapy under endo supervision but it didn’t work sufficiently. I guess that last cycle was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. Over 40 and the chances of recovery diminish substantially I believe especially if you’ve been in this game a long time.

Cheers for sharing your experience mate

What catches me a lot especially here on this forum, is everyone says they felt lethargic, moody, loss of libido, weight gain. Yet when I go to my forums that are dedicated to trt more then half never describe these "cookie cutter" low t effects. I had low t myself before therapy and the only issue I had was weight gain, my libido was there, just had no desire.

My libido went last fella. It was there up until about 3 months ago. In other words it was the last thing to go. I could always get an erection but had no interest in sex. First symptom for me was weight gain and loss of strength in the gym. Then the moodiness set in. Then my libido went etc.

IrishMack's picture

Im just saying is all, then again none of these guys are weightlifters or have ever touched steroids before so to them strength loss is/was not an issue.
Nothing against you, it just seems that everyone wants a get out of jail free to do cycles card and they use the cookie cutter symptoms to justify it. Thanks for understanding fella.

I get you. I’m not even running cycles at the moment and won’t touch anything until we have successfully conceived via IVF and I’ve got the trt regime nailed down. Happy to just work on strength, conditioning and mobility and eat well. Get my weight down and fitness up. Will think about a cycle down the line if it becomes relevant again.

Interesting, if you were on doctor administered why would you have to lie to get back on? Its called medical records and they are permanent.

Bearded_muscle's picture

If he went through a clinic, not all of them put stuff on your permanent record. It’s kind of like labcorp with these guys. They’ll give you the script and make a record of it themselves but nobody else will know. A lot of them won’t even send you the prescription, they fill it for you and just send drugs.

IrishMack's picture

That sounds extremely illegal.

Bearded_muscle's picture

As long as big pharma gets a fat check nobody seems to be stopping it.

Honestly is always best policy!
I would definitely just tell them what you been doing and they should help you.
