Three and a half years ago I started TRT because I had no energy, no motivation, and zero sex drive. When I looked in the mirror, I barely recognized the dumpy dad bod staring back at me.
Within 4–5 weeks of starting, everything began to turn around—energy, motivation, libido. I got consistent in the gym, tightened up my diet, and started seeing fast results. Like a lot of people new to TRT, I thought, if this is what a therapeutic dose can do, what would happen if I blasted?
So I did. I ordered UGL test and went straight into blasting and cruising. The results kept coming, so I added more—Anavar, Winstrol, Deca. I even tried Tren, but only lasted three weeks before paranoia kicked in hard. I was convinced my wife was cheating anytime she wasn’t around. That was enough for me to drop it.
I spent about two years blasting and cruising, and physically I looked great—but then it caught up to me. I had a medical emergency: a ruptured esophageal ulcer from years of chronic acid reflux. I ended up with iron deficiency anemia from the blood loss, some heart strain, and my lipids were a mess—HDL low, LDL high, triglycerides through the roof. Overall, I felt weak and run down.
I dropped back to a TRT dose, stopped going to the gym, and let my diet slip. I took about eight months off. When I finally got back into it, it felt like starting from ground zero.
This time around, I’m under much closer medical supervision—monitoring cholesterol and working with a urologist on my TRT. I’m on 100mg per week, split into 50mg Monday morning and 50mg Thursday afternoon. My last labs had my total test at 848, and my lipid profile looks much better.
Now, six months back in the gym, I’m almost back to where I was before the hospital.
Muscle memory plays a role, sure—but the bigger realization is this: I could have gotten here the first time on 100mg a week. There was no need to push my levels over 3000 ng/dL.
For anyone just starting TRT and seeing those early gains, thinking about blasting like I did—don’t rush it. Stick to a solid TRT dose that keeps you in the high-normal range, with good lipids and healthy markers. Put in the work in the gym and stay consistent with your diet.
Blasting is tempting, no doubt. But there’s a ton of growth potential on TRT alone. Getting back to where I was—on just 100mg—made it clear I hadn’t even come close to maxing out my potential before I started blasting.

Great point. But it's all so shiny and comes in a cool box. And the boys are all talking about it. It's hard for new guys to resist the temptation when that's all you see is "TRT+".
