Hypothyroid issues
I posted this in cycle forum but putting it here as well to reach wider audience and get more replies. Any insight on this from over 40 trt crowd would also be helpful someone must of had to deal with these kids of issues on trt.
Looking for some feedback from folks who have diagnosed and doctor prescribed thyroid issues. I am 42 years old and have been cycling for a long time. Life is different now after going through cancer and having my Thyriod removed. For folks who have to take t4 for life, how has cycling affected your medication? Do you need to supplement with more on cycle? Trying to learn how to best manage this new normal. For example does cycling mess with your tsh or free t4 levels? Yes I had bloodwork previously but when you had a thyriod its different from taking a pill every day. Your body could adjust to cycle and find a homeostasis but this doesn’t happen when you just pop a pill every day.
This is already very apparent as i never had hypothyriod or hyperthyroid symptoms till after I lost my thyriod and went on meds. Even when I had cancer i felt fine. But finding a balance since then is a chalenge so would like to learn from those who have experience with this how going on a cycle or cruise has affected them.

Lift4Gift1987I am taking T4+T3 too but cycling never affected my levels. Make sure you check them pre during and post cycle at least 3x yearly.
T4 alone never was enough for me because I didn’t convert enough into the active T3 so you may need that too. Iron plays a big role for the conversion so make sure you’ve got adequate levels of iron.
TricepatopsThyroid meds can take awhile to dial in as you notice they are in micrograms not milligrams. I have known people who have had thyroid cancer and it took years of adjusting to get it right. Wish I could help more but only thing really is trying a dose and getting bloods and how you feel.
Living4ThePumpI never needed to adjust thyroid meds on cycle, Brest is to go by bloods and see where you’re at. Some people also don’t convert enough T4 into T3, which is the active thyroid hormone. So get your FT3 checked and see if it’s low, if so you may need to use T3 along your T4 if your FT4 is already high end of range which would be a sign you’re not converting enough.
Iron is very important in this convention process so also get iron labs done and see if it’s low.
Thanks! Did not know that about Iron.
Hello . I found a problem with my thyroid. I have elevated TSH and all the signs of hyperthyroidism. And I also feel like my throat is half closed. I realized that I have an enlarged thyroid. I will do tests and ecography of thyroids. I analyzed and decided that I had hyperthyroidism before using steroids. But alas, I could not know about it. But still I wanted to know for information how cycles affect the thyroid, in particular testosterone and DECA.
TricepatopsElevated levels of TSH most likely mean Hypothyroidism not hyper. Many people mix it up because it seems like it would work that way but it is actually the opposite.
To actually get a full diagnosis you need a FULL thyroid panel not just TSH. Unfortunately you have to be specific because most Docs only do TSH and go from there.
