+ 1 What Kind of Bed Mattress do you have?
Yes its that time again, another one of Press's highly relevant Steroid Forum Posts!! LMAO
Well it is kind of, since we absolutely rely on good quality Sleep and Rest if we are to get anywhere in building muscle.
I am one of those lazy arses who tends not to change things until its last chance saloon and the thing is falling to pieces before my very eyes. The last time I changed my mattress was about 15 years ago Plus, and we are at the state of random Bed springs protruding into my back and all kinds of unspeakable places Lol I can literally lay there and hear them popping and snapping underneath me.
Its so fucked in the middle that it literally dips right down like the bed is bloody angled up at either end like motorized beds in hospitals, and I'm almost falling out the side onto the floor.
So my last mattress was a Silent Night Miracoil Standard Kingsize all those years back.
Been looking online at all the different styles and I am totally lost in what;s best for a Side Sleeper - We have Pocket Springs, Normal Coiled Springs, Memory Foam, Reflex Foam, Hybrids, Natural Filling etc
Then there is the Firmness - Soft, Medium, Medium Firm, Firm and Extra Firm (Oooh Err Vicar!!!)
From all I have read it says a Medium mattress, Pocket sprung with Memory Foam is a good choice ....
So as I am lost in the Abyss, what does everyone else use here for guys above 200lbs and preferably side sleepers?

You know they finance right so you can do monthly payments with zero interest. I am not sure where you are but in the USA you can.
Yeah buddy, I figure thats what people do. I already have to sell my body 3 times per week to pay for my monthly gear addiction - I can't take anymore abuse. I have found 2 that look similar to the Tempur designed ones, half memory foam on the top and pocket springs underneath. Medium. Just don't know whether to get Pillow top also, bit of a bugger really as I won't know till it arrives but they offer 60 day returns and exchanges so thats something.
When you sell your body all you have to do is increase your price a little and tell your clients its inflation. Take that extra money and save it for your mattress.
Too bad there's not a mattress "source review community" where you could sign up for promos.
Hey Imagine that eh!!! Thing is - many sources now give away $300 to $1000 worth of gear which is basically the same as a fuckin middle of the road mattress anyway!!! LMAO
Then you do too many mattress reviews and HERE COMES FUCKIN @Greg to punish you...
Then you really could say 'How many mattresses can you realistically sleep on in 1 year!! LMAO
Hahahahaha I DO MORE THAN 8 SLEEP CYCLES A YEAR. IM A SERIOUS SLEEPER. OKAY?
HAHAHAHAAA Best Laugh all week Bro
(Press & Milf get banned in T - 2 hours)
Hahaha
Yes it’s same here mate
Sleep Number king size. Can’t remember model number or anything but the back lifts up.
They have models that lift the feet too but that option wasn’t something my wife or I were interested in.
I like that I can sleep firm or soft depending on what my spine feels like that day.
My side leaks air through the night and it’s really annoying so keep an eye on your warranty stuff. Shouldn’t be a hard fix I’m just lazy and the change in pressure is actually comforting.
Do they have mattress stores on your side of the pond? Go lay on some if you can. I know laying on a mattress for a few minutes vs all night isn’t the same but might put you in a direction.
Tempur medium firm superking and pillows to match. Comfiest bed I’ve tried. Only issue is whenever we stay in hotels etc beds are no longer comfortable.
Honestly mate, anything I laid on after those just felt shit. I tried the soft one but that was way too soft. Springs feel proper old school don't they after you have laid on that stuff. Almost uncomfortable.
Definitely. This is it, once you’ve gotten used to these sleeping on anything else feels uncomfortable. Firm is better for your back too I’ve found. Pillows I’ve found the medium are better, I’ve got firm for when I’m sat up watching tv but medium for sleeping. If you get one of these mattresses the pillows are a must or at least one.
Is that pocket springs or foam or what mate?
Various layers of foam. No pocket springs. Think my one is 25cms deep. Well worth the investment. They last a very long time and best nights sleep I’ve had on these for sure. Dreams sell them. Definitely go for the matching pillows too.
I'm jealous now - How much did you pay for it mate?
Those things are incredible - I bet they are great for shagging in. Bet the birds happy too ....
£4.5K for mattress and ottoman bed frame. Worth every penny. Right level of firmness that you don’t lose momentum when smashing the granny out of her fanny
Holy Moses!!! Yeah they do feel great - when ya think of all the years you will have it and hours you spend asleep on it I guess its worth it.
Definitely mate. Minimum 8hours out of every 24. Have had it for 5 years and it still feels brand new. Given the pasting it’s taken can’t imagine getting another mattress for at least another 15 years. Works out very reasonable. Especially when you get IFC spread over 4 years. no I don’t work for Dreams
I went all out and bought a king size Temperpudic Medium and it's the best thing I have done. Got the massage base and all. I still love sleeping in it and have had it for 4 years now. It does cost about $5000 though.
FUCK I am now realizing ALL YOU BASTARDS have these mattresses!!!!!
Yeah that's because they are the best!! I don't even want to get out of bed.
JESUS I've yet to see one that expensive!!! lol
Well they are about $3000 but after taxes and all it is more like 5k. They last forever though and like Robert said above most comfortable bed.
Ranger3252We have a California Kimg Saatva in the Master. The other 4 bedrooms all have Puffy LUX Kings (2) and (2) queens.
Damn dude. You should adopt me.
Ranger3252Done
Hahahaha hello new dad
Idk what kind it is. It’s a pillow top. And then I have 12 inches of memory foam on top of that. Our bed looks so goofy because my wife likes it much firmer so she doesn’t have any memory foam on her side, so she sleeps like a foot below me lol. I got an L4-5 annular tear in my lower back and it’s the only mattress I can sleep on and not wake up in serious pain. Anytime we go somewhere and sleep somewhere else I have to like work up the courage to move and sit up in the morning because it hurts like fucking hell at first. So I’m definitely a fan of memory foam. I’m a Side sleeper too.
Bloody hell, how did you manage to injure your back in that region? I am sure thats the same area that Jimmy1048 did in and had to have major surgery on. I know another member on here that had big surgery in that area a few years ago too. Or maybe it was spine compression in that area? I have to try this memory foam out according to the general consencus on here then, well at least a spring and foam combo!!
Tbh though, looking at all these mattresses is now making me predictably want a new bed also and some of these luxury Super Kings look awesome lol
It all started about 15 years ago on a snowy night with strippers for an event for my frat. And when I say snow, I mean the kind that happens in the winter, and the kind strippers like lol. I was wasted and all hyped up moving too quick and slipped on an icy stair set and when I came down my lower back landed first on the corner of a concrete stair. It was extraordinarily painful for a couple weeks but healed to some extent but was never the same. Didn’t realize I did permanent damage to it at that point. Then I made it worse playing rugby the next 2 years before I finally got an MRI and figured out what happened.
The doctor who diagnosed it told me to avoid surgery at all costs. The chance of ending up worse than before is high so only consider it if the pain is really bad. After living with it for so long I know what I can and can’t do so it’s not so bad.
Definitely worth checking out a memory foam mattress. For me nothing even comes close to it.
Its amazing how one little tiny event can change the whole course of your life in some way, it always seems to happen when you are pissed also lol I think you would of probably been okay if you didn't play Rugby - I use to hate having to play it at school in physical education class lol Especially in the winter time when all the ground is iced up in the field. The amount of diclocated fingers, arms and concussions I've seen is horrendous, such a dangerous sport. I decided back when I was 18 and drunk on a friends birthday to punch a sweets machine as hard as I could which was one of those reinforced plastic ones back in the day, I ended up getting that boxers fracture where it breaks the little finger bone in the end of the hand and had to have it in a cast for the next 8 weeks. Couldn't train, couldn't drive or barely anything in that time - all over a moment of thoughtless stupidity lol
Sleep number i10. Could be the last mattress you ever need to buy, just change the sheets like an adult after busting all those nuts
NOT SURE WHAT KIND OF MATTRESS I HAVE BUT YOUR WIFE LOVES IT
I don't have a wife mate - I still live my own life on my own schedule
Dammit just laugh at it ok? I really need this.
That's Hilarious mate!!! Your a funny guy .....
He’s funny how? Like a clown? Like he’s here to amuse you?…
'Listen to me you Jew nosed Motherfucker You!!!
You only EXIST out here because of me ....
'You told my friend to go Fuck Himself??? Then you put your cowboy boots up on the fuckin table??!!!
I recently took a chance on one of the cheaper bed in a box mattresses. I think the brand is BedStory. Firm king size hybrid with pillow topper. I'm very happy with it so far! I'm a side sleeper as well, but I personally prefer a very firm mattress. Anything below firm and I sink too deep at my hips it drives me insane. I'm only ~3 months into owning this one so who the fuck knows about longevity. I doubt it'll last more than 3-5 years but for $500 I'm happy. Definitely improved my sleep a ton, but my old mattress was a queen so I was getting cramped sharing that with my girl and the cats. Just the jump from queen to king has been incredible don't know why I waited so long to upgrade.
Is that those ones that's compressed into like 1/5 of its size when you get it?
Yeah it's compressed, vacuum sealed, and rolled up. Super convenient to get delivered that way. You roll it out in place, cut the plastic, and just let it decompress for like 24hrs.
Very interesting mate, I am wondering between medium and medium firm. Bro I remember when I had a Queen size and for just me at the time being a 140lb natty it was fine, but as soon as my girlfriend got in there it was HORRIBLE!!! Literally sleeping locked together often in spoons. As soon as one of you twitches or turns you are woken up LMAO Could no way go back to that size now though even I only use half a King size by myself lol
Man couldn't have said it better lmao Part of me liked the forced perma-cuddles, but being 260 now when I would turn over in the night my girlfriend would get pushed into the gap between the bed and the wall. My long term goal is to get into a Wyoming King size. Gotta have some room to grow!
It’s fun sleeping together when you first get together but man do I love sleeping by myself now lol. My wife’s always moving around and waking me up and I guess I do the same to her. Luckily after having babies she like can’t sleep in a warm bed so goes room to room throughout the night every time she wakes up and I get to sleep alone lol.
Some of the Super King size Luxury beds look awesome online. About £700 for the frame and headboard and then £500 for the mattress - problem is my bedroom is too small to fit one properly into LOL Its only a 2 bed apartment, not one of these HUGE American homes Y'all have!!! Lol
I dont know what king of King size i have now but I want the 85" inch TV from Walmart on sale for under a $1000 and the wife is like "I want a new King mattress before you get anything!" Im definitely going to have to give in so im interested in your answers also. Well the cheap answers
