The war on our gyms begins
ad
Its almost new years and you know what that means. The gym noobs are coming...
Its gonna be hell. Curling in the squat rack, squating with an EZ-bar, squating on a yoga ball, selfies in between sets, all the cardio machines will be taken, weights never racked just laying everywhere, bench press will always be taken, machines will always be taken. FUCK! I might take 2 weeks off and wait for them to give up..

Yesterday was my first day back in 2 weeks. I took a break during the holidays to give my body a rest. I go to a gym that's very diverse. Many different kinds of ppl there. It's a local chain and I love it for the tranquility factor. The weight room has the usual suspects and the newbies typically go straight up to the bikes and treadmills. Well yesterday was a f*ckin mess!! All the resolution people who won't be there a month from now. Just as you described, curling in the squat rack, yoga balls everywhere. I'm usually pretty tolerant but what a mess. I hope it doesn't last too long or ill have to adjust my schedule. My training partner was happy with all the new women running around. I couldn't care less
Just got in from the gym. Twice the usual number, dumbells everywhere etc.
I hate new year resolutions.....
I went at 6am and there wasnt a soul in the gym!
AnonThat's cause everyone still drinking, In a certain state (wont mention).. there is not a bar time on new years, the bar closes the following night a 2am, which would be tonight. So you know there is dudes out there binge drinking legally for 36 plus hours.
AnonYup it officially happened today. A bunch of fat old dudes showed up, one came up and asked me to devise a training routine for him.. I didn't want to be an ass, so I told him Id get with later.. well his workout only lasted about 30 min and I guess he wasn't going to wait around for me to finish..
AnonOh yeah i know that feel. People always come up to me asking me to help them devise a workout plan. I just point them towards the bible aka arnolds encyclopedia of modern bodybuilding. They see that its like 1000 pages and never bother and the ones that do I give props to.
thats the book I read religiously at age 16 when there was no-one to learn from! book changed my life! and ive always resorted back to a shit ton of basics that book taught me.
AnonSame here! I got the book as a present when I was real young, probably around the same age. Didnt really bother reading textbooks, but damn, I read arnolds book over countless times. Its truely the bible of bodybuilding.
i hated when they uses the weight and dumbbells and nvr re rack -.- wat are we there mothers now?
GearofWarDear New Years Resolutionist:
You’re on my bench. You’re in my squat rack (often doing God knows what, looking like a monkey fucking a football). You’re using the equipment I need. You insist on talking to me in the middle of my set because you don’t realize some of us are actually here training for a purpose. You’re in my way making the gym more crowded than it’s meant to be. The very fact that you’ve showed up annoys me and interferes with my workout. Youre like an invading rebel force, relentlessly laying siege to my personal fitness goals. It also just so happens that there are a handful of us who do this all year long. We work our asses off everyday and GET SHIT DONE. We don't wait for a special time of the year to put in a half assed effort, just so that when you inevitably fail, and/or quit, you don't feel so ashamed because the rest of your friends, family members, and co-workers hung it up too, just like you did. SO, the sooner you fail, the better. Happy new year you good parking spot hogging, gym locker thieving, equipment usurping, turd burglars.
hit your place at the odd hours.. i dont like working with others..
I know it's inevitable, but we have to look at the positive too... New women at the gym!
They've shown up a few days early where i go. Yesterday I had to wait 10 minutes for some senior citizen while she used a benchpress bench to sit on and curl 2lb dumbbells.
What's worse is more than half of them don't even do anything! They come in, set up on a machine/bench and then just sit there for 45 minutes.
Then there's the awkward locker room moments. Last year I was going in to change after a workout and there was little kid who couldn't have been more than 10, yet weighted more than I did, sitting naked on a bench eating peanut butter out of a jar with a spoon. WTF?!?!?
DE-HECENT hahaha GREASY
AnonNot my gym luckily, I go to a power house gym. Most of the members are serious and we have a few IFBB pros that work out their as well. Plus i go in the morning like 5am so its just me and about 7 other regs.
Fuck, dont remind me about this. Same old pricks come year after year and learn nothing
not in my gym they wont, industrial unit hardcore ghetto steel playground only downfall not one women member :( but means 100% focus so perfect!
I hate this time of the year. It's so crowded. It will be all over in a month!
Midnight workouts. Only the big dudes are in there...no noise...just lifting.
To me it sucks but you're basically forced into it...last year I couldn't believe how many people were still in the gym at 10pm. Where were you clowns the rest of the year?
hahahaha this is so true.
I love when u see a noob with dangerous form due to too much weight and the look on their face when you suggest they might drop half the weight lol
samick94HAhaha the plus is new girls!!
