Tattoo Removal
Greetings: my eRoids Brothers and sisters. Today I want to share my experience with the tattoos I have had on my right arm.
When I was 15, kids my age were boring so I hung out with people older than me. While hanging at the local hoodlum’s hideout smoking Mexican weed I was asked if I wanted a tattoo and I said yes. When I was on the east coast I went to a tattoo parlor and got it covered up. It looked worse than a cartoon. Then at a town close to the Gulf of Mexico, I got it covered up again. Every tattoo I got was worse than the last one. Everyone else that I rode Harleys with had the same POS tattoos and I can’t help but wonder how bad they hate them today. Here I am a guy who looks good physically but never wears anything sleeveless because of this disaster on my arm.
I don’t have a problem with tattoos, I actually dig them if they are done by someone who is good but after my experience I have decided for tattoo removal. Finding a good tattoo removal facility requires some work as well. I went with a business that does Liposuction, dermabrasion, etc. Black ink is the easiest to remove, while blue and green are the most difficult. She told me there is another office in the city that can get blue and green off but they have been known to scar people, so I’ll just take the extra sessions with this business until I am at a place I can live with.
You can’t tan, while you are in a tattoo removal process, so this will be my last session until this winter. Even though there are some blue lines left, I feel good wearing a tank top now and have been buying a bunch of them! I am going to wear a tank top every where I go this summer!
I posted a pic of my last laser session just for the gore factor. If you get this done you have to wear black tee shirts to bed and under your clothes or you will get blood stains on everything. If I had any words of wisdom to share with anyone wanting to get a tattoo, I would say don’t get a tattoo just to get one. Research and find someone really good, save your money, buy a plane ticket if that’s what it takes but don’t just let anyone give you a tattoo!
As far as the blisters go, this seems like a thing for men who can stand a little more pain. If I am breaking any rules by posting these links, mods please tell me and I will get them off ASAP!

Update: I finally added a pic today 7/16/13. This is what my arm looks like after the last treatment where you see the blood blisters. I DID NOT SCAR! this is after 6 treatments. again if this were not blue ink it would be gone...

Old IronI have two now, one is a year old, and looks really faded already I'm having it removed and replaced by a new artist. The new artist I found costs 3X's more than anybody else I found but his work is really amazing. It's defiantly a get what yo pay for deal. Also, the new artist took three days to complete my art work, then applied the stencil, and gave me a few dates to come back to get the work done, the first guy, art, stencil, tattoo bang in about 2 hours, new guy little larger but not much, 5 hours and return in fall to finish. Your right about taking your time and doing it right the first time.

AnonThank You Sista! I wanted to bump this thread but Have kept from it... but since you did, lets talk a bit.
Last night at the gym, there was a really... really... really young man who was inked really heavy. He had a shirt on but it looked like he had an ink shirt on under his tee shirt and you could see he was inked all around his traps and all the way around his shoulders, it stopped, before it got on his arms. This young man still had baby features in his face he was sooo young.
Its none of my business of course but I cant help but wonder what your take is on young people getting seriously inked at such a young age. You seen what I went through just on my arm and if this kid decides to do this at a later date he may have to stay at home under heavy sedation for DAYSSSS every-time he has a session.
Do you feel concern for really really young people getting HEAVY ink at such an early age? If I were a tattooist I would have just given the kid a small tattoo here and there but I would save the covering of ones body for someone older that I felt was making a well thought out decision.

Whether it is a tattoo, drinking one too many shots on my birthday, or getting a tattoo that I may regret down the road in life. I do have a personal experience with my younger brother (he's 22) his body is about 40% covered in tattoos right now. It seems to me that he has an appointment if not every week, it is every other. He started getting tattooed I think about 17 or 18 years old. I didn't really like it at first, I thought most of them didn't have a meaning (especially the chicago bulls sign on the back of his calf with a bandana covering the mouth saying No Bull Shit). As for him being as young as he is and seeing 95% of his friends covered, I sort of just look at it as art and a way to express who they are. I personally, would love to cover my body in tattoos. I think they can be absolutely beautiful. I also have chosen to wait until I know exactly what I want and know exactly where I want it. I have to very tiny beautiful tattoos. One I got when I was 18 and another about a year ago. I think that young ones should wait, but if we open our eyes a little wider, there isn't much we can do or say to sway them to wait.
AnonI agree and I would ever say anything to anyone unless it was my child. Even then I would go about talking to them in an authoritative parenting.
I think the ink i had on my arm was was because I was so rebellious during those times of my youth. I hated the cops and anyone that had anything to do with authority.
AnonNow if it were my own child.. That would be a different story
AnonI hear you... instead of brow beating the kid, I would have to go into the spiel about how bad it would hurt me, then try to go into some rewards program if my kid would just hold off for a while.

GearofWarI've always been pretty careful in researching my artists before even requesting a drawing as to avoid laser removal. I've got quite a bit of ink and the one piece I did regret is now covered by a good artist. In the grand scheme of things you get what you pay for when it comes to tattoos. And as you well know, it's twice as expensive and painful to have them removed. Lookin good though bro!
AnonYou are absolutely correct! When I was in my early 20's I didn't know what a good tattoo was, the people I hung around with didn't either. Lately I have seen true works of art. Like everything else tattoos has evolved and makes all the old tattoos look like crap.

AnonI didn't have a problem with the tattoos I had chosen, I had a problem with the quality of work. I'm not as naive as I've gotten older.

I see it all the time , me and the Gf are full Japanese body tatted up, so many customer comes in wanting a cover up all the time, nothing wrong with a cover up if the person holding the gun knows wtf he's doing, remember tattoo are for ever and font rush it.
I couldn't agree more! I've seen so many people get things that they regretted... I've personally witnessed my ex try to talk people out of getting something... Keep in mind that was his livelihood... Tattoo=money! But he didn't want someone coming back to him saying damn I wish I had never done this!

Not bad ic they use the white on the eyes and use the customer own skin as the negitives. This artist has years under them.

No1Currently having one removed alll black, been going for about 2 years and its about 70% gone. I go every 3-4 months to prevent scarring and have had about 6 or 7 treatments
AnonDo you get blisters as well? Like you, I want to do away with that particular type of scarring
AnonI have seen photographs of my self from years ago, wearing weird wild pasely shirts, or something just as riduculous to me now. Sure at the time I thought I looked great, but now when I look I am like " Holy shit I actually chose to wear that ?" .
Shit it took me 6 years to decide on the woman to marry and have for the rest of my life, and Im supposed to go in to a tattoo parlor and see one I like and will live with for life ?
Besides they are just so damn trendy now , now a days your almost the oddball if you arent inked.
The only ones that make sense to me are guys that served putting something to do with that
But of course I realize my taste is the minority now. My days of being trendy are long gone as are my silk pasely shirts ;)
AnonThat's not a bad way of thinking at all. I just wish I would have thought like that instead of just making my mind up about getting a tattoo and just letting anyone give me one. I stated that i have friends that got tattoos from the same places that I did and I wonder now how much they like them now, 20+ years later. There's nothing like standing next to someone that actually has art on their skin and looking at myself thinking OMG I should have wore sleeves. I shit you not... I was soooo sick of it, I would have considered skin grafting but now, besides these little outlines of blue... I'M FREE!!!
AnonI was on a liveaboard dive trip once and five of the other guests were all friends, they all had the most amazing ink jobs, I mean real art work. The artist himself was there as one of the five. I think he was from Atlanta but I cant remember. Sounded like people did fly in to get his work though.

AnonSee that's the thing! There are tattoos that can be forms of art, REAL ART. It doesn't take long for someone good to be found out, then he sets his own price and can make a good living.
We have a tattoo shop literally on every corner here but when you go in, they have these templates and everything looks like a cartoon.
Then you have tattoos like this, look at the details all the way down to the shadows.

I've read the comments below.. I spent 10 years in the tattoo industry.. (walked away with two.. thank god no more) You are very correct blue and green are very hard to remove. However, white is the color you can not get rid of.. Keep that little bit in mind before getting another tat..
It cost 4-5X more money to remove than it did to get it!!

AnonI have never really given much thought to white ink? The only way i will ever get another one is if I happen to run into someone that is a total bad ass but then i probably wouldn't be able to afford it. As soon as this heals I am going to be able to start tanning. Just the thought of sleeveless shirts and tank tops gives me a positive outlook!

They got that laser cranked too high or something. For anyone new to this I can tell you without a doubt this is NOT normal. Best of luck to you bro.
AnonI'm worried to go somewhere else. Believe it or not people come from other states after they have researched this laser. I know it looks bad but if it weren't for the blue, this tattoo would already be gone and this pic is of the 6th treatment. There will also be no scarring, that's the main thing.
EDIT: I'm sure they could crank it down for the faint at heart but I want this off and the sooner the better.
I'm sure it's also got something to do with the fact that you had the original tattoo covered twice.You probably needed a more intense treatment.
