My wife filed for divorce :(
My wife told me last night that she filed for divorce. This is one of those divorces where we absolutely love each other so much but have grown into different people over the years with different interests. It hurts bad, but I understand where she is coming from. We'll both be able to do more of the things we want to now and I can focus more on my career and involvement in the supplement and fitness/bodybuilding and personal training industry. This is going to be very amicable divorce with no mess so that's good. I'm going to turn this into a positive and work to achieve more personal goals of mine, instead of withering away and feeling sorry for myself. I'm NOT looking for pitty, lol, but I'm finding it helps to just tell people about it since I'm having a hard time believing this is real. Thanks for listening guys.

My advice- RUN dont walk to the closest attorney. I know you want time to grasp what is happening but shelf your feelings and protect yourself because your wife, her lawyer and the courts (assuming your US) will rape you financially, emotionally, professionally, gramatically, etc of everything including your dignity if you allow it. And although I hope your situation unfolds as amicably as you seem to expect but hear me- divorce can bring out the worst in people and you might learn alot about your soon to be ex you never knew or saw coming.
WithdrawlWe're doing this without lawyers. She's being amazing about this. Not kicking me out. Even helping me find a place to live and car insurance and all that stuff. We've already agreed on who gets what. As far as divorces go, this is about as easy as it gets thank god.
Even if you think "she's being amazing about this", her lawyer will NOT be amazing about this. Did she file the papers by herself? It's her lawyers job to get everything and even if she wants to be "nice", her lawyer will get everything he/she can. Just protect yourself and get a lawyer. That way you both can be on a level playing field and have a fair chance. Take it from someone who is in the industry.
Also, sorry this is happening to you. Best of luck.
WithdrawlShe filed herself. No lawyers will be involved at all. Only things listed are our cars. I sign off today and we're done.
Glad to hear it. I am in the industry and see people get screwed all the time. Lots of people say that my wife would never do that to me, etc., but the lawyer will do everything they can to screw you, regardless of what their client says.
Again, I'm very sorry about this and wish you the very best.
AnonThis is true but it can work out w/o lawyers. My first wife gave me the shaft, got caught cheating, etc, etc. But I wanted to keep it clean and lawyer free and we did. We split the house, each kept our own retirement accts, cars.
It isn't easy but it can be done. Lawyers will cost you thousands. We used a service called "We the People" and saved thousands by not involving lawyers.
It's def something you both should sit down and talk about.
Good luck.
Im glad for you but thats VERY rare that a she-spouse will honorably divide things fairly especially if they have met with a lawyer who will tell them what a major upper hand they have in the courts.
Damn man, I hate to see my bro's go through these kinda situations. That brought a tear to my eye. I couldn't imagine going through that and keeping my head on straight like you are. You have a great mindset though and I wish you the best in your career and hope this brings you one step closer to fulfilling your dreams, You've been there every time I've needed a some advice or help and I appreciate that. Feel free to hit me up anytime to talk it up brother. best of luck bud. Stay strong and keep focused!
Sorry to hear about your trouble brotha, I wish you the best of luck. Seems like you have a good attitude, that will get you a long ways with this! Keep your head up homie
AnonWasn't too long ago I went thru a divorce. It sucks and no way around it, even amicable. Just hope it all works out for ya and doesn't turn bad.
Stay positive bro.
I am sorry to hear that. Are you sure that is it what she truly wants or may she have been trying to feel you out? There's nothing wrong with having different interests as long as you spend some time together.I don't think there are many men and women that share the same interests. There are exceptions such as viking and suzy. But I would think they have different interests besides bodybuilding.Either way, staying positive is a good plan.
WithdrawlI asked her if she wanted to work though this and he didn't want to. She's convinced this is what we need to do and the more I think about it, I agree. I've just been too scared to admit it.
Well then.Time to start a new chapter in your life.
X2!
I remember when mine hit. It took me months to realize what you just wrote here, which was that it was for the best. Im glad you were able to see it so clearly, so quickly. Good luck brother.
It is commendable how you are handling this brother. I wish you the best.
An amicable divorce is unheard of these days, but I'm glad you're having one. Stay positive. +1 for sharing, this community is more than just a bunch of steroid meatheads, this is a brotherhood
