Lasik Eye Surgery Question

ad

I didnt know where to post this so I hope its the right area. I just got Lasik Eye Surgery on Friday and I am a little nervous about working out. When I lift heavy(Especially Chest) sometimes my face is beat red and my eyes are bloodshot. I know this is because I am not breathing right and it usually doesnt happen but I dont want to take the chance. I am going to the eye doctors this Friday for a follow up and I was going to ask him then when he thinks I can go back to hitting the gym.

My question is for anyone that has had Lasik. When did you get back to hitting the gym?

THANKS BROS!!

I would let them heal bro. I heard great things about LASIK. My grandpa had the surgery when he was 80 and he never had to wear glasses again. Amazing

They should have given you post op instructions. You dont want to wrinkle your corneal flap. Then you wont be able to see and you will have to go back to the doc so he can fix it and then it will just add that much more time to the healing process. Did you have it done on both eyes. Id wait till he clears you to work out. Good luck and a speedy recovery

Yes I got both eyes done. It wasnt that bad with the Valium :-) I haven't been to the gym since the surgery and I have a follow up meeting this Friday. I will ask then. Thanks!

3 issues with working out after LASIK:

  1. Your biggest concern is elevated BP caused by working out which can rupture the little blood vessels in your eyes

  2. Movement - for example jumping rope or intense squinting. Can rupture the flap

  3. Sweating - Not supposed to get sweat in your eyes. Forgot why.

My advice is to take at least 4-5 days off from lifting then take it easy for another 2-3 days.

Appreciate the advice. This Friday will be a week since the surgery and I will ask the doctor what he thinks. I will just take off till then. It is killing me though! Thanks bro.

It is different for everyone, personnally 2 days after the surgery i was fine, i would suggest you do small muscle groupes first
