I'm the guy that had the heart attack 4 months ago...

ad

Just want to let my brothers and sisters know that I'm doing well. Not sure if you remember my story: http://www.eroids.com/forum/general/general-talk/june-22nd-2013

I'm doing good and finally got the OK from the doc to start to lightly work out. All is going pretty well and after a small set of light curls I was tickled pink. I was nervous but all was well. Anyways, missed posting on these forums but was just busy recovering.

Thanks Noob. There's not a day that goes by that I don't thank the all mighty for my life. I remember when my heart stopped I didn't see any bright light. All I saw was the deepest black. Almost like an intense sleep. I take that as a sign that I wasn't meant to die at that time.I have other things to do like watch my babies grow up.

I am glad you are recovering brother. TBH I have been kind of avoiding this thread. Not because I don't care but because heart problems run in my family, my Uncle died at 40 from a massive heart attack and my own father had his first attack at 45 and died of COPD at 60. So anything that brings this all back into my focus is kind of tough.... Keep on rocking brother and beat that heart into compliance...

Well Ice, if my story can get someone to get checked out and avoid this road I went down, I will be happy. Trust me, to think how close I came to death is life altering and scary. Sorry to hear about your uncle and dad. May they rest in peace.

Glad you're still around and kickin' bro. Must of been terrifying to experience that.

Details, it was a horrible experience I hope to never ever experience. The bad part is that from what I read and hear ANYONE who eats meat or protein will likely have some form of cardiovascular problems. Those countries that don't eat lots of meat and have mostly a vegetarian diet don't even know what a heart attack is. Crazy.

Glad your recovering well dandog theres nothing scaryer then a sudden heart attack.

dandog's picture

Thanks Lift! It's wierd, in the hospital I didn't feel any fear. I think when your near deaths door your mind has a fabulous way of tricking you into being calm. Maybe its natures way of helping you cope.

wow.. just read the story. that is really crazy and frightening and glad you're around to talk about it. I've always been pretty paranoid about my heart and get sharp pains from time to time. I've gone to the doc and they've given me ekgs and everything looked normal. How else can they tell if you will have heart issues?

dandog's picture

Most insurances won't pay for anything unless the doctor can prove you have a condition. You can get an echocardiogram or EKG or even better a Coronary angiography where they put a catheter in your leg artery and inject a dye into your heart and see if there are any blockages. Believe it or not I had seen a cardiologist 2 years before this because I could feel my heart skipping beats. I thought there must be something wrong so they put a monitor on me that I wore all day. Another cardiologist said I was perfectly normal. I wonder if this was just a small warning that was missed. Its scary but its hard to really truly know unless they inject a dye and see if there are any blockages since the arteries are very small.

that's insane that there is not another and easier way to help determine potential heart issues.. with all the technology in the world, you would think there would be a better methodology to this. Bro, you have inspired me to go back to the doc.. I'm on vacation all next week with no plans - already have a dentist appt, calling the doc today for a checkup and bloodwork.

Stay healthy dandog, sounds like you have a big family who needs you around for the long haul.

Thanks for all the love! (no homo). Well, I've been taking a bunch of meds from blood thinners to blood pressure meds. I think at this point I'm taking 6 different pills most of which are twice a day. The doctor seems to be more concerned about blood clots and always seems to bring up how he's trying to keep my body from forming any clots.

Oh, and my cardiologist has an interesting take on weight lifting that I've never heard before. Personally I think he's just being anal because his job is about the heart and anything that affects it. Here's how it went:

Me: Hey doc, what sort of thing can happen if I , lets say, starting lifting heavy again? Would my heart explode or something?

Doc: No, your heart won't explode but all heavy lifting can cause your heart to dilate and that could, in the long term, cause your heart to be less efficient.

Me: So because of my heart attack my heart can dilate??

Doc: No, lifting heavy is BAD for everyone. You think you are doing your body good but you are actually weakening your heart. Because your heart is already not 100% I don't want you to lift heavy but I would tell that to anyone because its bad for you.

Strange strange philosophy of his and one I never heard of before.

fyi my ex fully recovered from congestive heart failure....he never stopped lifting so yr doc is wrong....most heart doctors are fat

dandog's picture

Alayna, did your ex use any gear during this time?

alayna's picture

I know for sure he used HGH but not sure about Test or anything else...in fact one dr. (not his cardiologist) said he felt the HGH would heal his heart...his cardiologist had a shit fit when he heard the other doctor was giving it to him...he also shirked when my ex told him he was using Q10 & other supplements....whether the HGH helped heal his heart or not no one knows for sure but it did not hurt him nor did exercising...but all the drugs they gave him did....so eventually he stopped all except for B.P. meds

dandog's picture

I know that when my wife had a shit fit knowing I was using Test (I told the paramedics and all my doctors so it wasn't a secret at the time) the doctor told her that Test wasn't really a steroid since its produced by the body. My female doctor was super cool and just threw it off like whatever.

I remember that on my 3rd appointment the doc asked how was our sex life after the heart attack and my wife said that I wouldn't leave her alone. The doctor then told my wife that she was considering putting me on Test but that she wouldn't now because my wife looked tired and I needed my rest too. LOL LOL. High five to my doc.

dandog's picture

Thanks. I suspected the same thing. Hence me stating that the doc is just anal about his stuff. I plan to keep lifting and am actually going outside to the garage to work out now. Smile
